Typically, ovarian cysts are functional (not disease related) and disappear on their own!. During the days preceding ovulation, a follicle grows!. At the time of expected ovulation, the follicle fails to rupture and release an egg!. Instead of being reabsorbed, the fluid within the follicle persists and forms a cyst!. Functional cysts usually disappear within 60 days without treatment and are relatively common!. They occur most often during childbearing years (puberty to menopause), but may occur at any time!. I had a cyst on my cheek before, had to go to the hospital and have surgery on it!.

But seeing as it was an external cyst, I assume it was a lot easier to get rid of!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

well im going 2 give u 2 options as 2 what u can do!.!.!.!.

let's start by what a dr will do
Your doctor will ask you to use your hand to hold direct, firm pressure on the site after the procedure!. Because no deep stitches are placed in the wound, it is important that pressure be applied so blood will not collect where the cyst was!.
Antibiotic ointment will be applied to the wound immediately after the procedure!. Antibiotic ointment should be applied daily until the wound is completely healed!.
Some gauze may be taped over the surgery site, unless the cyst was on your scalp!. If the gauze becomes soaked with blood, apply firm pressure over the area and change the gauze!. If the bleeding continues despite the pressure, call your doctor!. The gauze can be removed the morning after your procedure, and the site can be covered with an adhesive bandage!.
Some wounds will have a clear or yellow fluid drainage after this procedure!. The drainage is fairly common after the removal of large cysts!. This drainage usually stops within 1 week after the surgery!. If pus drainage is noted, especially if the wound is red or tender, call your doctor!.
You can take a shower 36 hours after the procedure!. You can take a bath once the wound has completely healed!. Do not take a bath or swim while the wound remains open, or if fluid drainage is noted!. Vigorous physical activity can be resumed 1 week after your procedure!.
Occasionally, a small piece of cyst wall may remain beneath the skin, and the cyst can reform!. If you notice a lump or cyst at or near the original surgery site, return to be examined by your doctor!.
If stitches are used to close your wound, you will be asked to return to the office to have them removed in 7 to 10 days!.
Report any problems, such as infection or bleeding, to your doctor!.

now ley me tell u what u can do for it yourself

Let it be!. "If the cyst is small and unobtrusive, if it doesn't hurt or itch and if it isn't red or tender, then you can just leave it alone," A hands-off policy is best for any cyst!. Don't touch, pick, paw, squeeze or manipulate it in any way!. If the cyst is in a position where it can easily be bumped or scratched, shield it with a gauze pad or some moleskin!.

Apply warm compresses!. Is the cyst red, oozing its contents or just plain sore!? Place a washcloth soaked in warm (not hot) water over the irritated cyst several times a day, "This will increase the blood circulation to the area, quieting down an angry cyst!."

Wash and dress a ruptured cyst!. "If a cyst should rupture and drain, you run the risk of developing a severe infection," Wash it with soap and water, dab on some hydrogen peroxide with a cotton ball, and apply an antibacterial ointment such as Polysporin!. Cover the area with a bandage or gauze pad to keep dirt off it until a doctor can check it out!."Www@Answer-Health@Com
