While different families have differing beliefs about the use of tampons vs!. pads, there is no medical reason why most teenagers shouldn't use tampons!. Some young teens find the idea of tampons horrifying, but those who are willing to try them generally learn to be comfortable with insertion!. An added plus of tampon protection is that it frees up girls to more comfortably participate in sports, go swimming, etc!.

A few decades ago, there was a lot of publicity about toxic shock syndrome; however, the tampon brand that was the greatest offender is no longer on the market!. Currently available tampons, if changed every eight hours or sooner, do not pose undue risk!. Of course, girls who decide to use tampons must be willing and able to take this responsibility!.

Comfort issues
Tampons do not break the hymen and can be used by young women who have not yet had sexual intercourse!. Most teens do best starting with slender tampons that come with a smooth plastic applicator!. It may help to coat the tampon tip with a water-soluble lubricant, such as KY Jelly, at first!.

Young teens often find wearing a tampon to be uncomfortable because they don't insert it far enough into the vagina!. If a girl has difficulty inserting the tampon, she may benefit from instruction from her doctor and an examination to see if she has a variation of the hymen that prevents insertion!.

In my practice, I find that girls who use tampons are more comfortable with their bodies and seem less anxious when they need a gynecological examination!. I don't know if tampon use leads to this level of self-assurance or if girls who simply are more mature are more likely to seek the benefits of tampons!.

Other concerns
It is useful to note that when blood is exposed to air, it gets a characteristic odor that may make girls feel conspicuous during menstruation!. Some find that deodorant pads help to mask odor, but changing pads frequently is probably the best approach!. Not surprisingly, tampons generally do not lead to the odor associated with pads, perhaps because air exposure is pretty much a nonissue!. Baths or showers should be adequate to cleanse the vaginal area during and after the menstrual period!.

Keep in mind that medical experts do not recommend douching, since the vagina has natural barriers to infection that can be washed out with this process!.

Most girls and women should be able to manage by changing pads or tampons every two or three hours during the day, even on the heaviest day of flow!. If the bleeding is unmanageable, talk to your daughter's doctor about the possibility that her flow is excessive!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Use a slender applicator!. Cardboard applicators can be more difficult!. Try a plastic app, and Before releasing the actual tampon, make sure your applicator is in the right (comfortable place) As you sqeeze the tampon out you are pulling the applicator away at the same time!. You position the application and leaving the tampon in that comfortable spot!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

haha, I used to have this problem, what you do before you use a tampon, if you haven't before, it will help you to masturbate, and I mean, put your fingers in, and then it'll be looser, when you're putting in the tampon, use an applicator, you can ask your mom about the applicatorWww@Answer-Health@Com

If it hurts too much, then don't use them!. Just because you are old enough, doesn't mean you have to use them!. You could get the plastic applicators that help the tampons go in easier, or you could use a lubricant to help as well!. If you are having a hard time with them and it hurts to use them, then don'tWww@Answer-Health@Com

Just don't use them!. I don't understand why the very moment a young lady gets her period she has to start inserting tampons!. Pads work wonderfully, there are ultra thin pads that you can't even notice now!.!.!.!.!.if you're not ready for a tampon, don't use them!. Your flow might not be heavy enough to comfortably insert a tampon!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

If she has found the smallest ones out there, then yes, you may be a little small for them!. Don't give up! I had the same problem, (only I embarrassingly consulted a doctor!) The reason it hurts so bad coming out is just because it wiped you dry going in!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Well, the odds are if your using the smallest ones and they still hurt, your might be putting them in wrong!. If they hurt when your wearing them take it out!. Go to your doctor or something!. If you can't figure it out in a little while your should probably stick with pads!.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

You have no problems!! Trust me! Tampons should only go as far as you said!. And, pulling them out when they arent completely full of b l ood, it will definitely hurt!! Your size should not matter, and i would start with a very small size and a plastic applicator!. Good Luck! =DWww@Answer-Health@Com

I think you are not getting it in the right spot!. It should not hurt!. It would only hurt it you were doing it when you are not on your period!. Try using Playtex Slimfits!. They are great for women who are learning to use tampons!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

try going to the gyno!. you may have problems down in that lil area!. my cousin had issues to and to find out she was too small and there was no way to correct it!. she can;t even have kids or sex because there's no room!. so go to the gyno and they'll show you and check you!. you may just be to scared and tensed up!. sit on the toilet like your going pee but spread your legs far apart and try to relax, think happy thoughts!. insert the tampon, but remember not to tense up!. when its in the and you've pushed up the applicater pull it out!. nothing but a string should be hanging out!. than what i do once its in there, sit down like you normally would and if you feel the tampon, not the string but the tampon itself you've done it wrong!. so try this or go to the gyno and they'll show you!. but get a female gyno because she'll know more on how its supposed to work than a male would, he doesn't know what its like to be a female, unless he's a wierdo ha ha ha!. good luck!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
