They will generally go over your family history and talking briefly of your sexual history!. After all the paper work, they will weight you, check your blood pressure and all the other stuff they do on any normal doctor visit!. Next, they will have you change into a doctors gown!. (nothing too stylish, hehe) and have you lay on the table!. You place your feet in the stirrups then she will usually insert her two fingers and feel around and then lube up the speculum and insert that!. It feels alittle cold and tight at first, but only lasts a second!. Then she will take a cotton swab and take a sample!. That's pretty much it! They may do a breast exam as well!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It can be helpful to talk with your gynecologist or clinician ahead of time and letting him or her know your concerns!. This way, he or she can be extra sensitive and carefully explain all the procedures!. Some of the procedures include taking your medical history (which means you'll have to answer some questions about your health), a urine test, a breast exam, and a pelvic exam!. The pelvic exam is over in a couple of minutes!. Though it may be a bit uncomfortable, it should not be painful!.

You'll either wear an examination gown or be covered with a drape sheet!. Some clinicians will provide both!. During the pelvic exam, you can cover your lower abdomen and thighs with the drape sheet to feel less exposed and more comfortable during the procedure!. Try these tips to help you relax during the exam:

Breathe slowly and deeply with your mouth open!.

Let your stomach muscles go soft!.

Relax your shoulders!.

Relax the muscles between your legs!.

Ask the clinician to describe what's being done as it's happening!.
If your clinician is a man, you can ask to have another woman in the room!. Sometimes having a woman there with you can help you feel more relaxed!. She can hold your hand or just talk to you to ease your tension!.

Hope this information helps!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Hopefully she will have a doctor that will talk her through, which is a sign of wonderful bedside manner!. They will have her get undressed and put on a robe!. They will push on her tummy, check her breast for any lumps, and then do a cyst check, which consists of finger insertion (well at least for me, but I have had PCOS for my whole life, maybe not if she is still a virgin, not sure)!. They will then insert the speculum, which is usually cold unless they have them in a warmer, and will open things up and take a look!. They do a Pap, which is basically rubbing a Q-tip on her cervix!. And then you are basically done!.

It is a time to ask lots of questions, and I encourage her to take a note pad with her for not only questions she thinks of before hand, but any notes she wants to take during!.

Personally, I like to wear a panty-liner so that I have it for after, cuz they do lubricate all the stuff, and it is usually messy after, but some offices do provide a pad!. Oh, and it is not unusual to have some spotting after a pap, cuz the cervix is so sensitive!. (lots of little blood vessels)

Hope it goes well!.!.!. and good for her for starting things out right!!! I think every girl that is old enough for her period should be going for a yearly exam!. That and get the vaccine for HPV (but that is a whole nother topic)Www@Answer-Health@Com

they have you change into a stupid gown then a man comes into the room and asks you to lay back they then take a small swab and swab your cervix with it to be sent away to a lab for test!.!.!.!.it is all very clinical and not as bad as you think!.!.!.and in some ways it is humiliating!.!.!.I reccomend not going unless your are sexually active or have an issue that needs attentionWww@Answer-Health@Com

If your sister is age of 18 or so doctor will perform a breast(for lumps and other changes) and the Pelvic Exam(the Pap test is designed primarily to detect cervical cancer, which is treatable if found early)!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
