My doctor wont perform a hysterectomy on me!?!

Question: My doctor wont perform a hysterectomy on me!!?
I'm 36 and have polycystic ovarian disease so I bleed all the time, most times heavy!. The longest i've bled was 5 months, every single day! i'm really tired of living this way and so they want to perform a D&C!. The success rate of this surgery isn't very high and I think it's just a waste of time!. Do you think if i called my insurance company and explained the situation they might give the ok!? Any advice would be very appreciated!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Sorry you are having to go through this!. Is the issue the dr, or the insurance company!? The insurance companies want to save money!. If they are the problem, try calling them and asking for a case manager!.(not just a phone rep) Explain you could save alot of money on Emergency room visits,Dr!. apt's, meds, etc!. It would be in their best interest to let you have the surgery!. Hysterectomy can be done as an outpatient!. If it is the Dr!., you might want to try a more sympathetic Dr!., maybe a female!. Good luck!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Try a different doctor!. If you don't think you're getting the care you need then don't stay around a lousy doctor!. With insurance you may need a D&C first because usually they want you to try all the options before they'll pay for a hysterectomy!. There are exceptions though!. My mom had a prolapsed uterus and it was bad enough that they went ahead with the hysterectomy instead of doing another surgery that they sometimes try first!. I'd see another doctor and go from there!. If a doctor recommends a hysterectomy right away insurance will probably pay for it!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

you will probably have to try other ways of dealing with this before your insurance company will pay for the surgery!. The same thing happened to my cousin, she wanted a hysterectomy for bleeding issues and her insurance company insisted she try bcp first, with a family history of hbp and stroke she ended up dead at 42 with a stroke from the bcp!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

having had a hysterectomy at the age of 29!.!. i do not recommend it for anyone if there is any other alternative!. I am now 44 and still having reprocussions!. It forces you into menopause which has it's own problems!. If the D&C doesn't work then maybe have the ovaries removed first before you get into the total hysterectomy!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

You don't say if you ever managed (although i know it's difficult with this condition but not impossible) to have any children!. If you've never had any the gp would be unlikely to perform this operation until you are over the age of forty!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Unfortunately, you'll probably have to have the D&C first!. I'd try another doctor for a second opinion!. Different doctors have different views on how to handle the disease!. Good luck!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I don't think your insurance company can give the ok for any surgery if the doctor doesn't ask for it!. I would go to another doctor for a second opinion!. Good Luck!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Probably not but you can go to another doctor!. Talk to friends and family and see who did theirs!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
