Question: I am going to my new family doctor next week and I have some questions (about my doc and PCOS)!.!?
I am 25 and haven't been to the doctor since I was 18 (I didn't have insurance until this year)!. I am 98% sure I have PCOS!. I get 1-2 periods a year and when I do I bleed HEAVY for 2+weeks at a time!. I have very weird hair patches where I shouldn't have them!. I also have most if not all of the other minor symptoms as well!. How does your family doctor diagnose this!?!?!? Will she recommend me to an OBGYN!? Please give me all the info you can! Thanks so much *hugs*Www@Answer-Health@Com

I actually just went to the doctor today, partially to get some prescriptions filled and partially to bring up my concerns about PCOS!. My sister has it, and I've displayed some of the symptoms!. Could be nothing, but could be something!.

The doctor sent me to get my blood drawn!. From there, we'll find out if my hormone levels are out of whack!. If they are, I'll get a pelvic ultrasound, which will reveal if I have cysts on my ovaries!.

Try not to be too worried, hun!. PCOS can be really painful for some women, as it can inhibit fertility, but it's not life threatening by itself!. It can be a precursor to diabetes, which means you'll need to really start watching what you eat and exercising!.

Good luck with everything!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
