What would cause my TSH levels to be 10X higher than what is considered normal? !


Question: What would cause my TSH levels to be 10X higher than what is considered normal!? Level at 50!.185!?
Due to Graves disease, my doctor destroyed my Thyroid gland with radioactive iodine!. With Thyroid medication, my T3 and T4 levels
are considered in normal range!. I have been gaining weight even
when I am dieting! Lab work shows my TSH level to be 50!.185
Normal range is 0!.35 to 5!.5!.!.!.!.!.what is happening!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

TSH is a hormone that regulates the thyroid (thyroid stimulating hormone)!. Normally what happens is that there is a gland called the pituitary gland sort of keeps an eye on how much actual thyroid hormone (the t3/4 component) is in the blood!. If there is not enough, it secretes TSH which serves to tell the thyroid gland "hey, step up production!" Apparently, your body doesn't quite feel like the T3/T4 that its getting is enough and its kicking out TSH, causing the level to rise, in hopes of stimulating the thyroid gland though in your case, this won't work because yours doesn't work anymore!.

I would let your doc know about the the fatigue and weight gain!. The Synthroid may need to be adjusted again!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
