Period problems, totally dreading it! How will i tell my mum?!

Question: Period problems, totally dreading it! How will i tell my mum!?
me and my mum are close and all, but I am 13 and she got her period at 14, so did my sister!. she talks about it at the dinner table saying "oh, you'll be getting your period soon" and I hate her!! I blush so hard, but my dad doesn't really care, he just ignores my mum!. I am so scared i'll get it at school, or wake up on a school morning with it and i'll HAVE to tell my mum this time! I am totally dreading it, and i wanted to commit suicide I was so scared of telling my mum!. i wish she was cooler about this stuff, and didn't laugh or blab it to my whole family [meaning cousins and relatives which i know she will!] she told dad in front of me when my sister got hers, and i would've hated being in her position!. i told mum not to tell dad when i do get it, and she said "but he has to know" she doesnt understand the meaning of PERSONAL INFO OR PRIVACY! Someone help me get over this fear, why am i so scared!? i do gym and people say i'll get it later, is this true!?!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
If your mother does tell others unnecessarily when you have your periods, then you should tell others some embarassing personal details about your mother!. That will make her understand the concept of privacy!.

In some parts of southern India, when a girl got her first periods, the whole village used to know about it until about 20 years ago!. The girl's parents would distribute sweets to all their neighbors and friends!.

When a girl or woman was menstruating she had to stay in a separate room and not mingle with others according to ancient custom!. So, almost every one knew when a woman was having periods!.

Your dad and cousins knowing about it doesn't sound like that much of a problem compared to that, isn't it!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Tell your mum this! tell her when you 2 are alone that it realy embarrases you when she talkes about periods at the dinner table( espesially in front of dad!) ask her: " why does dad have to know!? he knows that I`ll get it some day so when I`m 18, he`ll know that I have it lol!. IF you have to tell him, never at the dinner table! its realy embarrasing, ok!? he dosn`t have to know at the dinner table, ok!!? I realy want privacy so please respect that!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

well, you'll know when your about to start because you'll be maturing in other ways as well (hair, breats, discharge) take your mom somwhere private and tell her how it embarasses you!. if you feel your about to start, then carry one in your backpack or whatever, but schools always carry extras in case someone starts, so you can go to your school nurse or office as well!. nothing to be scared about!. its normal, and becomes no suprise after your second time of starting!.

don't worry! It is the most natural thing in the world! it really is no big deal!. your dad knows what happens during a woman's monthly cycle!. its not a big deal at all! your mother will be so happy if you tell her!. if you dont want to do it "face to face" write her a little note saying that you started your period and need some pads/tampons!. it is your transition of going from a little girl into a woman and that is why your mom would be so happy that you started!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Wow!. I wouldn't like my mom to act like that, either!. Tell her ahead of time to please not announce it!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

all my family knows about this stuff!.

remember:

all girls have it, all over the world!. All guys know that females have periods!.

you're going to have it a ll your life so just try to relax about it!. it may seem very embarrassing at first, but it's okay!. it's natural!.
and your dad doesnt care, so what's the big deal!?
also if you act like its not a big deal, everyone else will too!.
sometimes mom are just really, proud!? of their daughters so they will "show off"

don't worry about it,
after a while it will just be so normal and natural no one will really mention it :]Www@Answer-Health@Com

Speak calmly with your mom about your need for privacy and tell her you feel she doesn't respect your needs!. However, let me tell you this: you have absolutely no reason to be embarassed about a period!. It is totally natural!. One day you will be having your boyfriend or husband picking up a box of tampons for you at the store (and you won't blink and eye about asking this of him)!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
