ok im in my late teens!. iv had BV (bacterial vaginosis) for a few years now but i was too scared to do anything about it!. recently i plucked up the courage to go to the doctor and she prescribed me with flagyl!.
however, i have read a lot of material about this drug (because its an antibiotic-and i dont like taking them) and i have found that its not very effective and has many different side effects (like thrush!!!)!.
so i dont really know what to do now!. my main problem is the fishy smell- its gross!.!. i dont get much discharge!. i got bv because i used to wash down below with soapy water!.
i think i should do something along with taking flagyl like putting probiotic yogurt on a tampon!?!? the flaygyl gets rid of good and bad bacteria!.!. so by restoring it with the yoghurt- i might be back to "normal"!?!?

I've had BV before-you're right its a pain!. I've taken Flagyl before and it worked so if you haven't taken it before, and since its usually only a 7-10 day course, you might want to give it a try!.
There are some homeopathic recipes for curing BV on the web!. One that made sense to me was a yogurt douche using plain yogurt, with active cultures!. But you had to do it three times a day for a few weeks!. Blech!. For my money, I would try the Flagyl first!. The yogurt tampon is not a good idea because it could be a breeding ground for other infections like the kind that cause toxic shock!. Good general concept though!. If you go with the Flagyl, which was what I did, I think that eating yogurt on a regular basis during and after is a good idea!. That will help not only your vagina but your gut recolonize after the Flagyl does its thing!.
ADD: Once the infection has set it, I don't think that eating it is enough to "cure", just prevent!. If you actually want to treat I think you have to apply the yogurt directly as a douche!. Thats a little too messy for me personally but if you want to try it, I know there are websites that describe the process!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
