Could I have had a miscarriage or something else?!

I came on my period after 40 days which is so very late and unusual!. For a while I thought I might be pregnant!. My husband and I were so sure!. All the pregnancy tests came out negative, then I came on!. After three days of heavy bleeding my period suddenly stopped!. It usually lasts four or five days!.
