i have had my mirena iud for almost a full year, havent had a period in about 6 months, never able to find the strings, well on saturday i was feeling a lot of discomfort down there, ended up that i could see the string!. Went to the doctor yesterday for an ultrasound, they said my iud not in place, but it had dropped to my cervix!. im scared because they said they must get it out, so they will be removing it tonight after work, im just scared that it may hurt, by the way i sware i feel like im having contractions, although i have no baby im def not pregnant, it burns like a ***** is that possibleWww@Answer-Health@Com

It doesn't hurt when the iud gets taken out!. I have taken 2 out myself!. A good tip is to take a pain killer such as Paracetamol or Ibropofen 1 hour before you go to get it done!.
Try not to panic or get stressed Try to relax and not be tense!. Try breathing relaxation exercises!.
As for it feeling painful at the moment that is coz it is on the cervix!. Try taking pain killers it will get resolved tonight

It is probably burning because it is sitting on the cervix and irritating the tender tissues!. Your cramping is probably because of that as well!. I get major cramping after having a pap smear/annual done, and they "brush/scrape" your cervix for a sample of tissue!. Just take a deep breathe and don't be too anxious, take some ibuprofen for the cramping!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
