Recurrent Bartholin's Gland Cyst?!

Question: Recurrent Bartholin's Gland Cyst!?
I first experienced this horrible bonus of woman-hood about 6 months ago!. Needless to say, I freaked out! I've never so much as had!.!.!.!.!.!.!.well, anything to be concerned about, south of the border!. I was given a scrip twice, and twice, thrice and many more times, it came back!. I've now had the gland swell up more times than I can count!. Each time, uncomplicated, a few times, uncomfortable at most!. But the gland never shrinks completely!. I consulted a 'dial a doc' from Planned Parenthood!. They basically told me that for cases such as mine, they advise gland removal!. I've have both glands swollen to some extent, for months now!. However, she also said that this procedure would only be performed, should I be someone who's exhausted every other option!. Meaning, I need to shell out cash I don't have, on temporary 'quick fixes' before I pay the big bucks, the big pain, and am done with this annoyance for good!.

Any similar experiences!? Please advice!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I have had mine swell from time to time, as well!. Luckily for me, they always drain on their own before I can get in to get a scrip for antibiotics!.

Last year when I had my pelvic, I talked to the doc about it, and she said she never considers removing or doing any other procedure on them unless a woman has had to be on long courses of antibiotics at least three times!. Basically, there are three procedures which are done!. One is removal, another is called marsupialization, and a third involves putting in a catheter to drain the cyst!. Which one a doc chooses for you depends on your situation!.

I think you need to actually see someone about it, if you can scrape up the money!. The number one quick fix is the antibiotics, and those clearly are not working for you!. It sounds like the person you spoke to was only thinking of removal, and not the other two procedures available!. I do agree that your case sounds like a prime example of a needed gland removal, but then I am not a doc!. That's why I think you need to explore all your options a little bit more!.

Since having my first go around with an infected gland, I have spoken to a surprisingly large number of women who have had the same problem!. I think the thing is that it doesn't easily come up in daily conversation!. Of the people I have spoken with, only one had to have removal--the rest had either drains or marsupializations done, and they were in the minority!. Most had them clear up completely with antibiotics, though one did tell me that before they got her problem cleared up, they had to do a biopsy and take out a bit of fluid so they could culture it and find out exactly what the problem was!. She took antibiotics for a very long course, but hasn't had any problems since!.

As I said above, I think this is one case where you need to have a second opinion, preferably from someone who has actually seen and or palpated the problem!. The doc needs to know your history, as well, as they don't normally keep giving antibiotics without doing something else (at least that's what my doc told me)!.

I found an informative link which you might find useful!. If nothing else, it will give you some things to think about, and may arm you with some good questions to ask when you actually see a doc:

I sincerely wish you the best!. My problems have been, at their worst, the size of large marbles!. I have seen photos, however, of cysts the size of tennis balls!. I know how uncomfortable a small one can be, and I hope you are able to get some relief!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
