Question: Menstrual cramps-Taking medicine BEFORE they start!? Good or bad idea!?
Answers:
If your schedule is reliable enough, it's probably smart!. I know for other kinds of pain (dental, surgical) the doctors often advise the patient to premedicate because it's easier to sidestep pain than stop or reduce it once it's present!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Yes, both my internal medicine doc & gyno have suggested this for me as I get HORRIBLE cramps every month!. They mentioned something about keeping a constant level of pain killers in my system prior to the start of my period (2 days tops) in order to help combat cramps on the first day when they are at their worst!. I would also suggest the portable heating pads(Playtex & Therma Care) too they help alot!. And avoid caffeine if you can that sometimes makes it worse for me!. I hear that peach juice also helps with cramps though I've never tried it!. Luckily 600 mg motrin has been a relief for me for the last 3 years , although I have to take 2-4/day!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Good idea! My mom has worked in a pharmacy for over 30 years and she taught me this trick--it seriously helps!. Start taking the pain med of your choice (I usually take Aleve) a day or two before you are supposed to get your period!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

i would say good idea!. i get really bad pains and it just makes me miserable so anything i can do to stop them coming is a plus +++++!Www@Answer-Health@Com
