Your first 2 answers are wrong!. You do not need to have a period!. There is no medical/ health reason for you to have one!. To enlighten the second poster, women take b/c pills to regularize their periods because
1!. It is inconvenient not to have a regular cycle
2!. Your periods tend to stay regular for a while after you've taken b/c pills, and this makes it easier to conceive when you want to!.

I have terrible dysmenorrhea (painful periods) also, and I was put on the pill continuously for the last 6 years!. I choose when and if I want to have a period by skipping or not skipping the placebos!. It is most certainly not unhealthy, and, speaking as someone who shares your pain (I used to take narcotic meds for my pain), it is a BLESSING not to undergo 7 days of torture!. If you doubt me, ask your doctor!. He/she will tell you the same thing, I guarantee, there are no adverse effects from not having a period!. You just cannot (obviously) depend on a missed period to tell you if you are pregnant or not, so make sure, if you are having sex, to take the pill as recommended with no skipping!. It's worked for me for 6 years!.!.!.and I've taken b/c pills, Depo and I'm about to try Mirena!.
Depo was not the best option for me, it aggravated my PCOS, but that's not to say that it won't work for you if you decide to try it!. But you should be fine not skipping the week with Nuva Ring!.
Good luck with your pain hun!Www@Answer-Health@Com

It is not normal to not have regular periods and if it were safe to not have them!.!.some women wouid not be put on birth control pills in order to have regular periods!. If I had problematic periods I would discuss in detail the best option I should take WITh my OB doctor and I suggest you do the same!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It is not smart to go against the manufacturer's directions when using b/c!. You're periods should be much lighter and not as bad once you've been on Nuva ring for a while!. At least mine wern't and I had killer cramps from hell before I began using b/c!.

Personally, (even though all the Dr!.'s swear its safe,) I don't think it is healthy to not have a period or have 4 a year, thats why I got off of b/c entirely!.

I started on Depo-provera and was on that for about 4 years!. I had horrible symptoms like weight gain, weird facial hair, and moodiness that almost ended my marriage! I hated every second of it!.!.!. but I had NO period!.!.!.yay!.!.!.!?

Then I started Nuva ring, and things sort of got back to normal once the depo was out of my system!. I just felt better after having a period, even though it was always ligher!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
