It's actually really hard as even these days many books are still giving young girls a negative idea about menstruation and most books only tell girls about tampons and pads excluding all other options - which lets face it means girls don't get to know their choices and risk using harmful options such as tampons instead!.

I'd personally say to pick up 'Period!.: A Girl's Guide' by JoAnn Loulan, Bonnie Worthen, Chris Wold Dyrud, and Marcia Quackenbush which gives a good balance and some details on menstrual options outside of tampons and pads and 'The Care & Keeping of You: The Body Book for Girls' by Valorie Schaefer - basically it is important to get books that tell her growing up and menstruation is a GOOD thing and that don't patronise her by missing out on important information!. Also get some more grown up body-positive books as well such as '****: A Declaration of Independence' by Inga Muscio this is more grown up, body-positive and gives her more an idea of pride in becoming a woman rather than just giving her information - that pride is very important for girls!.

It all depends on what is on offer in the store you go to, I
