Hey Sweetie, They are so annoying periods when your going on holiday and you come on, I have only been using tampons a short while and they are great I have just comeback from a wk in boston and I was on my period on the flight and while we were away!.

Couldn't believe it, I used tampons and I could still enjoy my holiday cos you change them every 4-8 hrs depending on your flow, if you are very heavy like me I would change them every 4 hrs!.

Sweetie, once you have worn them once there is no going back to sanitary towels at all, I use the tampax compak and they are so fantastic wished I had used them years ago!.

As for you going in the pool then just put a pair of knickers on and your swimming costume and as soon as you have finished playing in the pool just go and change your tampon cos I think it would of soaked up some water and you could leak if you don't change it!.

But Sweetie just relax and follow the instructions on the leaflet and practice on your next period they always say practise makes perfect and they are right!.

I know it is a scary thing to use tampons but they don't get lost only very rarely you get TSS Toxic Shock Syndrome and don't be frightened off by that it is very rare!.

As long as you change them regular then you will be fine and once your period has stopped make sure you take it out!.

Good Luck Sweetie and enjoy your holidays just take some medication for your stomach ache and you will be fine!.

EDIT:- While your trying to workout which absorbancy is the best for you, wear a pad just until you get properly used to them and once you have worked out your absorbancy then you will be able to go without the pad, and then just stick to that absorbancy until you are satisfied that their is no leakage even for the flight if you come on the same day as your flight wear a pad and a tampon so you have that extra protection!.

Start practising now sweetie and you should have it right by August!!!!!!!!!!!

Good Luck Sweetie

If you don't wanna wear a tampon then you can't go swimming!. I heard that once you get in the water your period stops for a little while then comes back once you're out of the water!. I've never tried it myself but I heard it works!. Honestly I wouldn't wanna take any chances but you can try it for yourself to see if it works!. It might be worth a try!.

You don't always have to get in the water to have a good time!. Still wear a bathing suit and maybe just lay out and enjoy the sun!. Who says you can't get a nice tan just because you have your period!. If you're worried about wearing a pad under your bathing suit then try panty liners!. They're thin so you'll have to change them more often but they won't be obvious like pads!.

Practice wearing tampons when you feel comfortable they really are convenient at times like this!. You can start out with some light ones!.

Don't let your period get in the way of enjoy your vacation, have a good time!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Go to your GP and ask him/her!.!.!.you can get a drug called Norethisterone which will be taken for a short while before your period is due until you come back from holiday!. Its hormonal and just delays the natural dip in your progesterone levels that normally lead to a period!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Try using a menstrual cup ( www!.mooncup!.co!.uk )!.
Thats what I use and it's brilliant (I'm not much older than you)!.
You can practise using it before hand (unlike tampons) and you can use it for safety before you actually start!.
This would be better than taking drugs and tampons take some getting used to!.
Try talking to your mum or somebody she would understand exactly what your talking about, don't forget, she will have been in the same situation before!
There is also a very good chance you be late, only being 13 and all the excitement!.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

You can go to the doctors and get prescription tablets containing some hormones (sorry I don't really know the science behind it) which delay your period!. They go back to normal as soon as you stop taking them, and it's perfectly safe and harmless!. It's not the same as the contraceptive pill either!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

your period is still pretty irregular (unless you have had it for about three years), so there is still a chance it won't come during that time
however, i would suggest tampons, and like someone else said, its at the most only a week!
buy some ibeprofen to help with the cramps, and it will be like you never even had it!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

you could ask your mum about going to the doctors!.!.!. the can give you pills to delay your period for a few days whilst on youre on holliday!.
wearing tampons does mean that you can swim but dont use them if you dont want! you could always just use them when your going swimming!.!.!.
also mooncups are a good alternative to tampons as they are much cheaper and good for the environment! - if a little scary!

have a nice trip!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Don't listen to the other people!. You have to wait til the first day of your period to start the pill anyway!. So that won't work out!. If you don't like tampons don't use them!. I don't like them either to be honest with you and i'm 25!. Periods only last about 5 days anyway so if you happen to get it you'll still have a few days to swim!. But there's no way tp stop it from coming when it's going to come!. Good Luck honey!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

try wearing tampons it gets easier!.
But when i went to turkey i went on the pill for 1 month and it stopped my period, so go to the doctors and explain to them why and they'll give you some!.
But go doctors in june because you do need to go on the ill a month before cos hte first month you get a bit of spotting!.

Enjoy your holidaay! XWww@Answer-Health@Com

I know you say you dont want to wear tampons!.!.im guessing its because you find them uncomfortable!.!.but what about the mini ones!? you wont even feel like its there and you will still be able to go in the pool!.!.!.they are also alot more hygienic that sanitary pads!good luck chick!Www@Answer-Health@Com

I heard that if you ecercise alot or drink alot of water you could postpone your period!. I wouldnt count on that though!. Bring a bathing suit just in case though!. I would gocheck out the scenes or stores!. Sports and family board games are always fun too!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Sounds like Tampons is the way to go!. If you are gonna be swimming, that is the only thing that you can wear to not bleed in the water!. The only thing that stops or regulates periods is birth control!.!.!. Not sure if you are ready for that or not!.!.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Your doctor can perscribe you tablets which stop your period from coming untill you stop taking them (preferably stop taking them when you get home) otherwise, just sit back, relax, reading some magazines and sip your coke and get a damn good tan :D xxWww@Answer-Health@Com

go to the doctor and there is a pill that you can take that just delays your period until you stop taking it!. the only problem is you have to take it 3 times a day and if you forget one then you'll come on!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Well, get some really thin sanatary towels to wear when going out!. The blood actually does not leak when you are in the water ,it sort of stops!. It's true I swear, just be careful
Have a lovely holiday,xxxxxxWww@Answer-Health@Com

do what feels right to you if you choose to wear a tampon then do so it up to you !. if you feel like wearing a pad cuz it makes you feel more comfy then go ahead what ever makes you feel comfy is all that mattersWww@Answer-Health@Com

YOU HAVE NO CHOICE, YOU HAVE TO WEAR TAMPONS, THEY ARE GREAT! GET THE PEARLS THEY ARE SMOOTHER AND EASIER! THIS IS A PART OF LIFE THAT EVENTUALLY IS LIKE BRUSHING YOUR TEETH!.!.!.(SO COMMON YOU DONT EVEN THINK ABOUT IT) SO TAMPONS ARE A MUST!Www@Answer-Health@Com
