I'm sorry ro hear your mom reacted that way!. This is an important time for you!.

Take some pain killers (ibuprofen, tylenol, but NOT aspirin, which is a blood thinner)!. That will ease some of the cramps!. It's too bad you're not feeling well generally, too!. That does make you feel even worse!.

Sometimes I would put a heating pad on my abdomen!. That helped!.

As for pads vs!. tampons, use whatever you're most comfortable with!. My daughters started using them right away!. One had a little bit of difficulty the very first time but got the hang of it quickly!. My second one took to it like a duck to water!.

When you're ready and if you want to use tampons, there are some simple things to remember:

1!. Use something with a plastic applicator!.

2!. Don't "practice" when you're not having your period!. Taking out a dry tampon can be uncomfortable (and give you a tugging sensation as it pulls on the walls of the vagina)!.

3!. Remember that the vagina doesn't go straight "up"; it tilts backward, slightly toward your spine

4!. Make sure to insert them all the way, not merely to the point where they are "in"!. You want the tip all the way to the cervix, which can sometimes be a little tender, so it's okay to go slowly!.

5!. Make sure to change them regularly (and not leave in too long!.!.!.about 4-5 hours is a good target)!. If it's more frequent than that (ie you're filling them up), use one that absorbs more!.

And finally, take good care of yourself!. It's going to take awhile for these to get "regular", so don't worry if they don't come every month like clock-work yet!.

Best of luck to you, sweets!. You're gonna do great!Www@Answer-Health@Com

First of all, Congrats!!
I know that it's a pain in the neck getting your period!.
and mums should care about their daughters
you might feel really moody but have a chat with your mom and tell her that it feels really bad, because after all, shes a woman and she should know how it feels!.!.
Take some advil if it really hurts and if you can't find a water bottle just take a normal bottle and fill it up with hot water (be sure not to melt it) or if u can't then take a nice hot bathWww@Answer-Health@Com

My mom kind of acted weird when I got my first period!. However, your mom calling you a drama queen was insensitive!. Tell her you need her!.

If you can, try some Tylenol and drink a couple glasses of cool (not ice cold) water!. I know you might not want to drink that much water if you are already feeling bloated, but it really helps me!. I take Tylenol whenever I feel the first signs of my period/cramps coming on and it really helps!. Go to bed and get some rest!. Sometimes lying on your side with a pillow against your tummy helps!.

Good luck and feel better!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

You must be feeling down and terrible!. You might feel like this for a couple more days!. Do you have an older sister or auntie who you can talk to about this!? Try having a warm bath before you go to bed and maybe take some paracetamol for the pain!. Because it's your first period, stick to pads! and if you need to get some more and don't want to go to your mum, you can get them from supermarkets and chemists (drugstore)!. Best of luck, I hop you feel better soon!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

well it is wierd that your mum doesnt care, mine was really helpful and understood the pain

i guess for now all u can do is get a water bottle and everything yourself,

try talk to her!? sit down and ask her why she doesnt care!? mabye then shell see taht shes been ignoren u!?

you poor thing, if you dont have a hot water bottle get a flannel and put warm water on it and put it on your tummy, your mum is probably just a bit stressed, im sure after 2 days ur feel better, its just the beginning is a bit painful!. it isnt all the time though!.

I'm sorry to hear that, it definitely is a big deal to get your first period and it can be very painful especially when you're not used to it!. And having the flu must make it so much harder for u =( Maybe your mum is having a bad day today!? Have you told her how you feel!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Take a Tylenol and rest!.!. Hope your mom changes her attitude!. It's not always bad, I'm sure your Flu is adding alot!. Good Luck!Www@Answer-Health@Com
