Seroquel and Wellbutrin during pregnancy?!

Question: Seroquel and Wellbutrin during pregnancy!?
Ok first off if people are going to be rude, then please don't bother to answer!.

For the past 5 years I have been taking Seroquel and Wellbutrin for depression and PTSD!. I found out on Monday that I'm about 7 weeks pregnant!. The doctor told me to stop those meds, I did that cold turkey!. I am a wreck right now!. I have not slept in 4 nights, I'm crying all day because I'm so tired!.

I'm scared that in my current state right now I'm going to end up having a miscarriage because I'm so upset!. I think I'm just SO tired I don't know what to do!.

Has anyone on here taken an anti-depressant or sleeping aid during pregnancy and everything was ok!? I called my OB and they moved my appointment up to come in first thing on Tuesday to see what they can do!.

For people that have stopped taking psych meds so quick, how did you make it through this first few weeks of withdrawl!? I'm sure there's nothing I can do but just watned to hear other people's experience!. Thanks!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Fetal Risk

* Carcinogenic in animals increasing the incidence of mammary adenocarcinomas in females and thyroid follicular cell benign adenomas in males!.
* By increasing serum prolactin level it impairs fertility and reduces pregnancy rate (in animal studies)!.
* Not teratogenic in animals but fetotoxic causing reduced fetal body weight, delayed skeletal ossification!.
* High doses in animals cause reduced weight gain, increased maternal, fetal and postnatal deaths!.
* No adequate human data!.

CONCLUSION: These results suggest that bupropion does not increase the rates of major malformation above baseline!. The higher rates of spontaneous abortions are similar to other studies examining the safety of antidepressants during pregnancy!.

Pregnancy: The safety of bupropion during pregnancy has not been established!. It has been reported that babies born to pregnant women who have taken medications of this kind during the last trimester of pregnancy may be adversely affected!. Physicians and pregnant women should carefully consider the benefits and the risks of all treatment options!.

Risks of Specific Agents

ANTIDEPRESSANTS

The results of numerous studies that included thousands of pooled patients taking tricyclic antidepressants (TCAs) and the selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) fluoxetine (Prozac) support the relative safety of these medications for use throughout pregnancy!.8,17,18 Neither the TCAs nor fluoxetine has been associated with major teratogenic effects!.8,17,18 In addition, a well-designed follow-up study revealed no evidence of behavioral teratogenicity with these agents after up to seven years of follow-up!.19 There have been case reports of perinatal syndromes relating to all of these agents, but the effects appear to be mild, transient, and of questionable causation (Table 1)!.3,8-10

Mood stabilizing agents such as lithium, valproic acid, and carbamazepine are known teratogens!.

Fewer data are available about other widely used SSRIs!.18,20 Paroxetine (Paxil), sertraline (Zoloft), and citalopram (Celexa) have been studied prospectively in a few hundred women exposed at various times during pregnancy; these agents do not appear to increase the risk of teratogenesis!.18,20 Even fewer data are available about novel agents such as venlafaxine (Effexor), nefazodone (Serzone), or bupropion (Wellbutrin)!.3 Limited data on the use of monoamine oxidase inhibitors are not reassuring, and use of these agents is not recommended during pregnancy!.3

When counseling, cognitive and behavioral therapy are not successful, the use of pharmacotherapy, Bupropion (Wellbutrin, pregnancy category B) or Nicotine replacement products should be considered [8]
