Well first I would tell you to not be nervous at all!. Be proud of yourself for actually going to a doctor and getting tested for STD's!. The Health Department can be somewhat nerve wrecking only because you do not know what to expect at all!. The doctors and nurses will make you very comfortable and explain everything to you in detail because you are considered still a minor!. You will be ok and if you do not want your parents to know then they will keep your information confidential!. I first got on the patch when it first came out 6 years ago and I was on it for 5 years and I absolutely loved it!. If you are someone that do not like taking a pill everyday or you just simple forget, this would be great for you!. It's a little irritation the first week at the location that you place the patch and you might have a little nausea maybe even breast tenderness, but after that you'll be fine!. You know you may not have no symptoms at all!. Now I never tried the ring, but I have a friend that use to use it and at first she really like it!. One morning she was changing the bed linens and she notice the ring had fell out and was on the bed!. So I get with the ring you might want to get more advice on that!. I wish you well and good luck on your vi

everything is kept confidential and they always try to make you feel comfortable!. I know some places that even have back doors for thos patients who want to be discrete!. You probably expect the whole chaotic environment since its the public health department, but when it comes to the individual STD/HIV dept, they have their own enclosed areas!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I've never tried the nuva ring, but I have tried the patch!. I was on it for about a year, and I decided to change my birth control method because I had heard some things about increased risk of blood clot or stroke in women who use the patch!. If I were you, I would just discuss any and all of your options with the nurse at the Health Department!.
Don't be nervous, they see girls in your situation all the time (young, requesting confidentiality) and even in worse situations!. They will know the best method for you to try, just be open with them, and I'm sure you'll be fine!.
Yes, they'll ask you some personal questions (Like, how many people you've had sex with, and when was the last time you've had sex, and if you used protection every time, when was your last period, that kind of stuff) and they might even make you take a pregnancy test before they let you on a birth control method!.
Don't worry, its not scary!.

Good Luck :-)Www@Answer-Health@Com
