Is it possible that post-partum depression was caused by my mother in law?!

Question: Is it possible that post-partum depression was caused by my mother in law!?
I know PPD is caused by hormones returning back to normal pre-pregnancy levels and that can make you a little coo-coo!. My daughter is 6 months old!. At the time of her birth, I was living with my in-laws!. It was a terrible living situation because I had absolutely no help with anything (shame on them!)!. I did everything from cooking all of their dinners, to washing THEIR laundry!. I asked them to help with meals and their clothes, but they refused!. They were comfortable with letting me spend all my day on their filfthy house!.

Since then, I've moved out!. I've gotten back some of my sanity!. It was really hard to cope with having my own house, where I could relax!. I went into hyper-mode where everything had to be super-clean to make up for my bad experiences with the in-laws!.

I wasn't diagnosed with PPD even though I fear I may have had it, and it went undiagnosed and untreated!. I feel a major change in my mood, behavior, lost a lot of weight, and things have turned around!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
No, the only way you can have post partum depression is through hormones!. It sounds like your issue is a bit more OCD/anxiety related from coming from such a horrible situation!. I hope you talked to your husband about the way he allowed his parents to treat you because that could still be effecting the way you react to things as well!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Maybe not cause (as in grounds for a lawsuit) but definitely did not help things (other than literally the roof over your head)!. Anyone living in those conditions would come out a little "different"!. If you are still feeling the effects are severe enough to cause potential harm to your or your daughter's life, talk with your trusted physician/midwife!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Its not really PPD its something else that i cant think of!. But its like a severe lifestyle change!. It can cause you to get really stressed out and panicky and you should see your doctor about it!. They can tell you whats going on, and get you meds/help with it!. But yeah crazy in-laws can make you crazy and that sounds horrible!. I am really rude i would just yell at them about it!. That is ridiculous!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

it sounds like you might have!. and they were very selfish to do that to you when you were already having a big enough job to worry about!. i'm sorry you had to deal with that stress!. good luck with your family and daughter!. =]Www@Answer-Health@Com

I'm sorry you experience that traumatic situation!. But you'll be fine now that you moved out!. Are you still with your baby girls dad!? Is he any support!?Www@Answer-Health@Com
