Im due to get the coil fitted next month, The doc put me on the progesterone only pill in the mean time as there was a long waiting list, This pill gave me the worst side effects, I felt so ill, My mucels ached so much and it gave me really bad mood swings, I came off it as i had had enough of feeling crap, Now im not sure wether to get this coil fitted, With it been the same hormone in it will i have the same side effects!? I have had side effects with all the pills i have tried but this was the first progesterone only one!. CheersWww@Answer-Health@Com

What do you mean by "coil"!? Do you mean an IUD that releases progestin, like the Mirena!? (I'm getting the impression that you're from the UK, so terminology is a bit different--I'm from the US)!. My gut feeling is that this shouldn't be a problem!. What's going on is that progestins (which are artificial progesterones, and therefore are not called "progesterone" in the medical community, so it's an important distinction) often have bad side effects for women, and you seem to have had all of those side effects-feeling like crap, depression, mood swings, etc!. But if you are using an IUD that is releasing a progestin, then most of that progestin will stay in the uterine area, and not go to the brain or other muscles to cause those problems you had!. The amount is much smaller than the amount in the pills you were taking, too!. Also, the IUD probably uses a different progestin than the pill you've been taking!. Nevertheless, if this is of great concern to you, you might want to think about using a different type of birth control, one that does not involve your hormones!. For example, there are IUDs that do not release hormones, and then there are diaphragms and such!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
