Answers:
Well, first note that a Pap cannot determine conclusively whether you have HPV!. A Pap looks for abnormal cells caused by HPV, but can't detect the virus itself!. In addition, the Pap is a highly subjective test and the results can be misleading -- meaning they can be false negative or false positive!. The only way to know for sure if you have an active infection with high-risk HPV (the type that can cause cervical cancer) is to have an HPV test!. Do you know if you had this test along with your Pap!? If you've just had a Pap, then maybe the other test your doctor did was the HPV test, which showed that the Pap was mistaken -- which is common!. (A Pap is just a person looking through a microscope, using his or her best judgement!. The HPV test is a computerized molecular test!.)

If you do have HPV, it cannot be treated with medicine or anything else!. The key is to find any abnormal cells that form early, so that they can be removed before they become cancerous!. (That's why if you are found to have a persistent HPV infection, the next step is to have a colposcopy exam!.)

Once you have an HPV infection, it can indeed go "dormant" rather than disappearing altogether!. A change in the immune system can then cause it to "reactivate" later!.

there are over 100 types of HPV!. maybe you have a type of HPV that is not as harmful as others!. about 80% of women will have HPV in their lives!. i wouldn't worry about it!. your dr!. should know what he's doing, but maybe you should get the vaccine that prevents genital warts and the cancerous type of HPV just to be safe!. hope this helps! :)Www@Answer-Health@Com

You should talk to another doctor and find out why it says you have it, and then you don't!. Persist until you get some answers!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
