Hi Claire

I think you must tell your GP about this and ask to be referred to a Consultant Psychiatrist, urgently!. I'm a GP and I've had depression several times - I know what you're going through - I've been there, so I can talk to you as a doctor and a sufferer!.

Unfortunately, as the anti-depressant works, you might feel feel more motivated to do various things, and sadly that means you might feel more motivated to even commit suicide!. When you're really low, you can't even face doing anything, but the danger is when you take anti-deprressants your mood lifts slightly and unfortunately, you reach a point when you feel positive enough to take your own life! This is a very dangerous situation - you're at a time where you really need help!. So tell some-one close to you, a friend or family member to go with with you to your GP to demand an appointment to see a specialist ASAP!
You must ask to see a specialist!. I tell you this because, I've been there, and there is a way out!. Once you get the best help available you will get better - I know, I've been there!
Please react to my advice - if you don't I'll be worrying about you!.

I can't blame you for feeling reluctant about using anti-depressants again!. Unfortunately, some anti-depressants do tend to make a person worse until their body and mind fully adjust to them (and this can take up to as long as six weeks)!. Most people report a steady improvement in their overall mood once those terrible fist six weeks pass!.

There might have also been a problem with the dosage!. If you were given too much or too little, they might have done more harm than good!.

I'd suggest that you speak to your GP again and try a different type of medication, and avoid medications containing ingredients similar to those of citalopram!.

Good luck and may you get well very soon!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Your best bet is to work with the doc!. try other scrips ,you will find the right one !. I am on anti (sertraline) it is amazing !.you can start on a low dose and increase it tell you start to feel a difference!. keep your dose as low as posible just strong enough to help you !.There will be realy good day and there will be some down days but aslong as you can see the signs you will be alright !. The biggest thing is keep your doc!. close when triing these till you get the one you need
i tried 4 differant anti depressants before this one dont give up there is help out there best of luck to youWww@Answer-Health@Com

I don't believe in taking antdepressants!. They really are just like other drugs people take which are illegal!.
Don't get hooked! Try alternative therapies if you can!.

And remember we all get sad and a little depressed!. It's all part of being a human being!. Don't think it is something wrong with just you or a unique illness!. As I have just said, it's a natural feeling everyone experiences!.

-=Doctors 'forced' to overprescribe antidepressants=-

GPs know they are overprescribing antidepressant drugs such as Prozac and Seroxat, but believe the lack of other forms of help for those suffering from mild depression and stress leaves them no choice, a survey reveals today!.

The survey shows that 80% of GPs believe they are writing too many prescriptions for the SSRIs (selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors), as the class of drugs made famous by Prozac is known!.

The findings are alarming in the wake of a decision last week by US drug regulators to demand a warning that some people might become suicidal on them, and the decision last year by the British regulators to ban most of them from use in children for the same reason!.

Sales of Prozac, Seroxat, Lustral, Effexor and other drugs of the class have boomed as mild to moderate depression, anxiety and stress have become acceptable diseases of the late 20th and 21st centuries, linked to fast lifestyles and taxing jobs!.
