Question: I haven't had my period in 10 months!.!.what's wrong with me!?
I'm 19 years old, and not sexually active!. In the past i've had cysts on my ovaries, and not had my period for about 4 months!. It's been 10 months, and it's the longest it's ever been!. I don't have insurance, so I cannot go see a doctor!. Does anyone have/know any kind of diseases/syndromes I could have!? Or is it nothing and I shouldn't be worried!? Anything helps!. Thank you!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Hunni, sounds like you have Polycystic ovarion syndrome!. I should know i have it myself!. Its becoming a common illness in woman and they have many treatments for it!. Only problem is, there is no cure!. But the best way to control your periods, so that they are more regular so you wont worry, is go on the pill!.

Having irregular periods is the top symptom of PCOS, what happens is, our bodys are producing more Testosterone (the male hormone) instead of Estrogen (the female hormone) so the estrogen is not doing its job and helping with the proestrogen to create the periods on time, because the testosterone is in the way!.

Testostorone can cause other side effects aswell, such as, hair growth, on your legs, back, chest and face!. but sumtimes in other places!. so look out for extra hair n it may be quite dark, also carrying excess weight, causes acne, and the most upsetting, being infertile (but you can get treatments to help you become pregnant if you have it)

It is quite a serious syndrome!.!.!. stripping you of your ability to make life!.!.!.!.that sucks!. Plus you have a higher risk than any other woman of dying of serious illness's, such as heart attacks, strokes, and especially, cancer of the womb or ovaries!.

So try your best to go get help as soon as you can!. its much more bareable when you know whats wrong with you and you have the pill helping your periods :)

need anything else just ask me hunni!.

I used to go for a long time without having a period!. It's normal for some women to only have 3-4 periods a year!. I thought I was lucky until I started having a period every 2 weeks!. I went to the doctor and was diagnosed with polycystic ovary syndrome!. They just put me on birth control to treat it, but it can cause a lot of problems!. Not saying you have it, but it's a possibility!. Just go to the doctor - pony up the $100 or so!. Doctors will see you if you don't have insurance!. I haven't had insurance for years, but it's probably cheaper to just pay out of pocket if you don't go to the doctor very often!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

If you are extremely overweight or underweight you can quit having normal periods!. Being overweight has been contributed to PolyCystic Ovarian disease!. And then being extremely underweight (as in anerxia) your body is too malnurished to have normal periods!.

Also if you are an extreme athlete that can disrupt your periods!.

So can problems with your thyroid!. If you also have brittle hair, brittle nails, buggy eyes!. It could be thyroid related!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Even though you're ont sexually active maybe try going to Planned Parenthood!. If you're in college try campus health services!. I know that you don't have insurance but you need a doctor to examine you!. You won't get a diagnosis here on Yahoo Answers!. If none of these solutions work look into community clinics that are designed to help those with no insurance!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Could be more cysts, an STI, an eating disorder manifesting that way!.!.!.tons of stuff!. Since you have a history of cystitis (I do too,) get to a doc now! Call Planned Parenthood and make an appointment for a full pelvic exam and STI screening, including PAP smear & HPV cervical screening!. The rate where i live is $95 for the exam, plus $30 for a screen!.

Also call a college health clinic and see if they treat non-students!. Or see if your city has a health clinic, some do, and if not, they can refer you somewhere on a sliding scale or low-cost!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

There could be many reasons why you have not had your period for so long!. It would be difficult for us here to diagnose you, so I would strongly recommend you contact your local health department or free clinic to see if they might be able to see you as a patient to discuss this!. Honestly, stress could be a problem, as could polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS), endometriosis, pregnancy, and even excessive exercise can cause decreased periods!. Please go get checked out to make sure you are okay!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Polycystic Ovary Syndrome is not just about the cysts, it's a hormonal disorder!. If it goes untreated, you could become infertile!.

Google it, and you can find tons of information and forums full of women who have the same problem!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Well if you are a very skinny girl and are in sports hardcore then no worries, but if not then i would worry!. call and get insurance and go see a doc!. find a free clinic health dept or something!.!.!.i am sure there is something in your area!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
