Question: D & C surgery!?
I'm having surgery for the first time next month (i'm 36)
Does anyone have experience with this type of surgery!?
Is receiving the anesthesia a rough experience (i think they will give it to me by mouth) Can it make you sick when you wake up!? Thankyou for your input!. I'd just like to know beforehand what to expectWww@Answer-Health@Com

Anesthesia is not rough at all!. It's not uncomfortable when they start it, and you just drift off!.
I had a D&C along with fibroid surgery!. When you wake up, they'l keep you in a bed in recovery for awhile!. You may feel nauseous for a few hours after you wake up!. If you do, tell them and they'll give you a little plastic basin to keep beside you!. You can use it if you need to throw up!. You will have stopped eating and drinking prior to the surgery, so if you do get sick, it will just be a little bit of fluid!.
As you start to feel better, you'll sip a little water or gingerale and maybe eat a saltine!. You can leave when you're feeling up to it!.
Be sure you have something in the car in case you need to throw up again!. It's pretty common!. Of course, someone else will be driving!. Usually you can bring the basin with you, but a good plastic bag might be better!.
So !.!.!. throwing up during recovery is common, but it's not projectile vomiting!. It's not that bad!.

The general anestetic shouldn't be too bad beacuse you're under a very short time - they can give you several different meds!. for nausea if it should occur!. It is a scraping of the uterine lining!. The md should explain everthing before you sign the consent - write down your questions so you won't forget them!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
