Question: Is a low dose birth control pill less effective!?
I'm about to start Yaz for the first time and my doctor gave me a "lower dose!." I forgot to ask her if this would be less effective than a regular dose birth control pill and now I'm wondering if it's still safe to have sex!. Anyone wanna help me out!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

It will be just as effective, provided you take it as instructed!. The thing to remember with low-dose oral contraceptives is that you have far less "wriggle room" available to you if you don't take the pill at exactly the same time every day!. On a low-dose pill, taking it at the same time each day really does become critically important in ensuring ongoing protection against pregnancy!. This is because the lower doses of hormones your body gets when you take the pill really are "worn off" completely by the same time the following day - if you don't replenish them by taking your pill on time, then you are running the risk of being unprotected!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
If low dose pills were any less effective, they couldn't be marketed as ORAL CONTRACEPTIVES!. They used to use BOATLOADS of estrogen and progesterone in birth control pills, but they now realize that not THAT much is necesary to avoid unwanted pregnancies!. It's not that they're really LOW dose!.!. they're just lowER dose than what the old birth control pills had!.

No!. All birth control pills that have been approved by the FDA are 99% effective if used properly!. If you're not sure about proper use, please be sure to ask your prescriber!. A lot of young people have unplanned pregnancies because of lack of knowledge!.!.!. not because of innefective birth control!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
My experience with low dose pills: not as effective as higher dosage pills!. I switched from a high to a low because I experienced bleeding between periods!. I guess it just depends on your body, weight, etc!. Please talk with your doctor before you do the do!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
I also take Yaz and when I asked my doctor, she said that when taken correctly, it is just as effective as the other oral contraceptives!. Just make sure you don't have sex without some form of backup for a week after beginning the pill!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
When I took birth control years ago, I was on a very low dose also!.

you will be fine i used ortho tri cyclen low and didn't get pregnant!.!.!. it is just a lower dose of hormones but not any less effectiveWww@Answer-Health@Com
