some people that are very big into religean, believe that using a tampon will pop your cherry and make you not a virgin anymore!. My personal belief!.!.!. you didn't have sex, you didnt' touch or do anything sexual with another person, therfore, it's not a sexual thing, and you are still a virgin, even if you use it!.
try to convince your mother that you aren't doing anything sexual!.!. it's simply Medical!. Although i doubt you'll have any luck convincing her!.
Your not missing much with tampons anyhow!. the first time you use it it Hurts horribly!. Although, I must say they do improve your hygine!. Tampons are a a lot cleaner than Pads, and once you get used to them!.!.!. a lot more comfortable!.

Be patient with your mom!.!.!. she's from a different time, and even though it doesn't seem fair to you, or make much sence!.!. deep down she's just looking out for her little girl!. ihave a little girl, she's 2 years old, and it's hard to watch your baby grow up!. Something about a mothers love just wants to protect you forever!. Give her some time to let go!.!.!. she will eventually, but it's really difficult for us moms to let our babies grow into women!.
be patient!. You'll get there eventually!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Very weird!. Tampons have nothing to do with virginity or sex before marriage!.

She obviously places importance on the hymen (thin membrane at entrance of vagina) remaining intact!. It might be broken by a tampon (and might not)!.
The trouble with that is, it could be broken already anyway!. Lots of small impacts (inluding fingers) can break it - even horseriding, etc!.
Some girls are born with an incomplete hymen anyway!.

So an intact hymen is not a reliable sign of virginity, and is irrelevant!. If you can talk to your mum about this sort of thing, you could tell her that!.

Nothing wrong with tampons at all!. If you feel comfortable with them, they're very convenient and non-messy as an alternative to pads!. Some girls get a bit nervous about them, but there's nothing to be worried about!.

One answer here says tampons "hurt" to use!. This is not the case for me - I never had any pain at all with a tampon!. I think it's silly for anyone here to try to make you nervous about using them!. But feel free not to, if you don't want to!.

Anyway, seriously, life is hard enough without pressuring yourself to have a certain type of hymen that you can't even see!. Forget about it!

Good luck!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Actually I beg to differ!. Tampons are not better for you!. If I was your mom I wouldnt want you to wear one either!.
Toxic shock is most associated with menstruating women using tampons!.
The symptoms of toxic shock can include:

Vomiting
A sudden, red rash, usually on the face, or the vulva on females
Dizziness, feeling faint or fainting
Sudden fever
Confusion
Muscle aches
Diarrhoea
Shock
Low blood pressure
Peeling skin
Sore throat
and possible death

I have never seen anyone get this from a pad!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

The reason your mum doesn't want you to use a tampon is because it's the same kind of insertion of the tampon as it would be if you were to have sex! This results in the breaking of your hymen which is what happens the first time you have intercourse!

I think you need to talk to your mum more about this and her her to explain it to you!Www@Answer-Health@Com

OK, let me give you the point of view of a mother of a teen!. When my daughter started her period, she was 12!. She wore pads for a couple of years, but I assumed that she'd be uncomfortable with wearing a tampon!. I never wore a tampon until I was no longer a virgin!. However, after a few urinary tract infections (she is prone to get them, I'm not), the ob/gyn (women's doctor) explained that tampons are a lot more sanitary, as the blood isn't held against the woman's body on the outside where it can grow bacteria and enter the urinary tract!. Also, the doctor explained that the hymen (sorry, but most people call it the "cherry") is usually not broken from something as small as a slim fit tampon (specifically made for virgins)!. The hymen usually only partially blocks the entrance to the vagina!. If it completely blocked it, no blood would be able to come out!!! I bought some slim-fit tampons for my daughter, and she did fine with them!. The first time took her a couple of tries, and she was nervous, but after that she hasn't looked back!. Neither of us have worn pads in years, thank goodness!. They are so gross and uncomfortable!

Even though it's hard to understand when you're a teenager, your parents have an obligation to raise you the best that they see fit!. They are not forcing their beliefs on you -- this is what they see is the best way to raise you!. If they gave you no guidelines and let you just do what you wanted, it would seem to me that they wouldn't care about you!. They have their rules and beliefs and ask you to follow them because they love you and want you to be happy!. Raising you with their beliefs is the best way they know how to make you happy!. It's all because they love you, not because they're trying to make you miserable!. I remember thinking that when I was a teen, but as soon as I had my daughter, it was all clear to me!.

Good luck!!!Www@Answer-Health@Com

A tampon is not sex!. I'm a Christian too but I've used tampons my entire life!. I can maybe understand that she thinks as soon as your hymen is broken, (a thin flap of skin that covers your vaginal opening, usually broken during your first sexual experience,) that you are not a virgin, but that is just totally wrong!. It could never count as sex since there is'nt a guy involved, and some girls actually tear their hymen long before having real sex as it can be torn through exercise or sports!.

Maybe try getting an info packet from a box of tampons because I think it specificly addresses that concern!. Just try to be kind and respectful when bringing your concerns to your mom!. Be informed, but don't push your views on her!. While you live under her roof, she controls a lot!. But trust me, it really is not that big of a deal to not wear tampons!. Just discuss your views with her, and maybe ask to try them!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Well, i've heard that using a tampon can break the hymen(a thin tissue that blocks the entrance into a womans vagina!.!.!.sorry if this all sounds gross or uncomfortable to you) anyways, the hymen can also be broken DURING sex!.!.!.so technically speaking, your mother was probably worried about that, since that's the only resemlance :DWww@Answer-Health@Com

I guess your mom thinks just the thought of something inside you is not right, but it is normal alot of girls use tampons I hate to tell you this but sometimes you just have to do what you have to do even if it is against her wishes, I mean it is not like you are going to murder someone, you are going to grow up and have a family of your own!. You need to know stuff that is around in the world this world is crazy but you know what is right and what is wrong!.!.!. use your own judgement!. Good Luck!!!Www@Answer-Health@Com

I am not a christian and probably find this difficult to understand!. There are various arguments about how a tampon affects your hymen, but it definately doesnt make you no longer a virgin!.
I know it can be seen as a phallic symbol!. Other than that i dont know!. Maybe your mother is uneducated on the subject but doesnt want to learn due to her faith!. Respect what she believes in but I believe people should make their own chices in life!. :DWww@Answer-Health@Com

no offence but i think thats completely backwards, fair enuff if you have strong beliefs, but you shouldnt push that on to other people, so i dont think she should be dictating what you can and cant do when it comes to periods!. Its your comfort here, so why shouldnt you wear tampons, at the end of the day they make you feel cleaner and theyre more comfortable!. Plus they have nothing to do with sex at all!. Maybe shes worried about you breaking your hymen and therefore not being a "virgin" anymoreWww@Answer-Health@Com

Using a Tampon is not going to make you loose your virginity!. Your mom may be worried about side effects from them!. Talk to her and ask her why she is so worried about you using them!. She herself may never have used them!. I use them now and I am 44 I wish I had used them from when I was 15 they are far more comfortable than towels !.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Toxic shock syndrome was caused by the reaction of the body to the Chlorine used in the whitening process of the paper use in tampon production!.

This chemical is no longer used in the manufacturing process and there not toxic shock how ever they should still be changed on a regular basisWww@Answer-Health@Com

A tampon will not take your virginity! No need to worry!

Its just a myth, and it is not true! However, it MAY break the skin which is otherwise broken in sex or can be broken while simply riding a bike or something!.

Tell her this and explain that tampons are even better for you then pads!

Good luckWww@Answer-Health@Com

when you use a tampon there is a risk that it will break a piece of skin called the hymen in your vagina and sometimes it breaks the first time you have sex!. but even if it does rip your hymen it doesnt mean youve had sex youre still a virgin!. try and explain this to your mom!.
