Question: Im 13, how do i tell my mom i wanna wear tampons!?
Im 13, nad summer is comin up!. i no that i will want to go swimming and do some more sports when i have my period!. i can't go swimming with a pad on!. so how do i ask er!? when do i!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

It's ok to just ask her!. But I know it's akward!. I'm 17 and I remember it used to be akward!. What I would do is just start complaining about the pad if you are uncomfortable asking up front!. Just be like "How do I swim with this!?" "This is so uncomfortable is there anything different that I can use!?" Stuff like that!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
Just ask her straight out when you two are alone!. If she doesn't want to let you, explain to her why you want to wear them, and she'll probably agree!. If not, then I'd buy a box myself and try them to see how you like to them, then come up to her a little later and tell her that they worked- she should listen then!.
If you're 13, you really want to go with the junior or sport tampons btw, they're much more comfortable for teens!. Also be sure to read the directions and the warnings about TSS (toxic shock syndrome!.) It's very rare, but it does happen to people who don't change their tampons often enough!. It's a little scary at first, but you eventually develop a feel for it!.

P!.S!. I've also never seen research suggesting that younger kids can't wear tampons- I wore them with my first period when I was 13, and I had friends who used them earlier!. You're plenty old enough to start using them!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Is this a big issue with her!? If you just ask her the way you did here then she should understand that you prefer to wear tampons instead of pads for sports and swimming!. That's all!. Millions of women wear pads and millions wear tampons!. It is nice we have choices!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
