Question: My period came twice this month!?!?!?
Hi I am 23 yrs old, I have one baby boy who is going to be 8 months in june 2nd!. I was taking contraceptive pills and then I stopped about 2 weeks ago!. I got my period on May 10th for 6 days and then I got my period again on may 26th it started very light (spotting) and now it's heavy (specially when peeing) I took a pregnancy test 2 days ago and came out negative!. I used to be on the pill on and off years ago and this never happened to me!. Also like a week ago when I went to the restroom I saw something very weird, when I was about to flush the toilet I saw like an umbilical cord,it was something very weird and I was very scared, after like 3 days i got my period!. What could this be!? I am very scared i would appreciate any advice!. Thanks!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
Periods that are too frequent (more often than every 28 days also called "metrorrhagia") can be related to several predisposing factors:

If the periods are otherwise normal, then a short "luteal phase" or insufficient ovarian production of progesterone may be responsible!. If the periods are inconsistent, then failure to ovulate and the resulting anovulatory bleeding may be responsible!. If the periods are actually normal and once a month, but there are episodes of bleeding in between the periods, then mechanical factors such as fibroids or polyps may be responsible!. Women with hyperthyroidism are classically described as experiencing frequent, heavy periods!. They, in reality, rarely show that pattern, but we usually screen these patients for thyroid disease anyway!.

Early stages of pregnancy might be a possible cause as well, but it could happen if you change your eating habits, are stressed, have a lot on your mind, etc!. Our emotions and hormones collide a lot!.

I've experienced frequent periods too in the past that was caused by ovarian cysts!.

There could be other causes for the frequent periods you are experiencing and I would recommend you see your doctor/gyno for further evaluation to see what they think could be causing this!.

Good luck :)Www@Answer-Health@Com

I would speak to my doctor about it he/she will have the right answers!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It is very normal to have irregular bleeding and maybe 2 periods in one month if you have a change in your birth control!. Sometimes even if you miss a day or suddenly stop taking it your body could react funny and you could have a lot of spotting and bleeding!.

So since you just stopped taking birth control, I'm assuming that is why your periods are off and you are having irregular bleeding!. This happened to me once just because I took one pill late!. I was on my period for almost 15 days!. Birth Control can really mess up your cycle even if you never had a problem before!.

As for the umbilical cord looking thing!.!. that could just be heavy discharge/blood that clotted!. I'm not sure about that though!.

If you still continue to have problems or experience pain defiantly see your doctor!!Www@Answer-Health@Com
