Wow, you sound like me!. It depends!. You might have a weak bladder like I do and you just are more prone to infections!. I can tell you something good to take and it's natural!. It' called D-Mannose and you buy it at the health food store!. I can't tell you how many bladder infections I get every year because of this problem!. I went to the health food store to get cranberry pills and this lady told me about D- Mannose and sure enough, it worked!. It's all natural and it won't cause any side effects!. Do a google search on it and see how people use it for this!. Good luck:)) Also, you can use this with cranberry juice but if you use cranberry juice, make sure you get the unsweeten kind because sugar will only make a UTI worse!. You can also take cranberry pills ( which works better then the juice) along with the D mannose!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

1) No, tampons do not cause urinary tract infections!. Further, the use of tampons is not known to increase the probability of urinary tract infections!.

2) Menstruation in itself does not cause urinary tract infections, but hygienic problems might lead to an increased incidence of urinary tract infections while menstruation!. Many women observe bladder infections during or following their period!.

3) Urinary tract unfections (bladder infections) are caused by bacteria entering your urethra!. Thus, a strict hygienic regime to avoid bacteria in your private area is necessary:

3a!. Wipe front to back always!.
3b!. Do not wipe menstrual discharge over your urethra!. If necessary, clean entire area with moist cloth front to back!.
3c!. Change tampons regularly!. At least every 4 hours no matter how much the flow is!.

4) Generally, drinking a lot (water, juice, tea) decreases the probability of urinary tract infections!. The higher the flow through the urethra, the less likely bacteria can come up into the bladder!.

@Maryn:
Just as a note: Cranberry juice does not significantly changes the pH of urine nor does it have bacteriostatic properties!. The efficacy of cranberry juice is caused by its ingredients stopping the formation of microbial biofilms on the surface of urethra and blader tissue!. While cranberry juice is quite efficient when used for acute infections, studies show that long-term intake does not efficiently prevent urinary tract infections!. Thus, permanently consuming cranberry juice might not be reasonable!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Tampon use isn't linked to recurring bladder infections!. You might consider other sources and some home cures!.

Wipe front to back!. Use a flushable moist wipe at home!. Especially important when you've pooped!.
Change tampons four times a day, minimum, whether you need to for absorbency or not!.
Drink cranberry juice to change the urine's pH to one inhospitable to bacteria!.
Drink enough liquids that your urine is nearly colorless!.
Urinate every three hours or so when you're awake, even if the need isn't very strong!. Bye-bye, bacteria!.

Often doing all these things will sidetrack bladder infections!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
