1st gynocologist appointment?!

Question: 1st gynocologist appointment!?
I'm 20 yrs!. old and I made an appointment with a gynocologist for Friday!. I've started my period and I'm pretty sure it will be over by my appointment date, but I'm not 100% for sure!. Should I re-schedule my appointment!? If so how long should I wait!?

ThanksWww@Answer-Health@Com

First of all, let me congratulate you on taking responsibility for your health by scheduling this appointment!.

Call the gyno's office and explain about your period!. The office staff will let you know what your OB/Gyn prefers, and reschedule you if necessary!.

I've never personally had a doctor tell me to avoid anything except douching before a gyn exam, but your doctor might be different, so ask about that too!.

BTW, it might be a good idea to take a friend or family member with you the first time!. It can be traumatic lol!

Good luck!Www@Answer-Health@Com

For optimal test accuracy, you should have your pap done about a week after your last period day!.

You should also avoid sex, douching and the use of other "feminine" products (wash only the external parts) for at least 48-72 hours prior to your exam!.

This way you will get the most accurate results, and if something should come back abnormal, you can rule out external interference factors (blood, chemicals, cervical trauma, seminal residue)!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

The appointment would probably be fine, especially if you've been done for a day or two!. But, I like the idea of calling the office and giving "them" the choice!.

If you called our office with this problem, we'd work something out for "next week"!. We always keep a few slots open for appointment variations and such, and for when I'm delayed with surgeries or deliveries, etc!., so moving your appointment a few days may not be a problem for your doctor!.

Give them a call!.

You should re-schedule!. If there are still traces of blood in your vagina at the time of the pap smear, it could come back as abnormal, which would bring about a whole slew of other tests!
Re-schedule for next week, when you can be sure that your period is over and done with!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I would reschedule the appointment for a week after my period ended!. It is OK to go as far as 14 days after!. If you wait for more than 14 days, the PAP Smear may not be as accurate!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Doctors will do the exam on you period although it may not be fun for you its another day at the office for them!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

you should re-schedule for the next weekWww@Answer-Health@Com
