Does taking an anti-biotic cancel out birth control in the form of a (Mirena)IUD!

Question: Does taking an anti-biotic cancel out birth control in the form of a (Mirena)IUD!?
I recently finished a course of anti-biotics ( a Z-Pack)!. It was a 5 day course of treatment for atypical pneumonia!. For birth control, I have the "Mirena" in place since Sept 2007!. My question is, can I engage in sex now that I am done taking the anti-biotic!? I took the last pill two days ago!. If i can't have sex, how long after finishing this anti-biotic must I wait!? Or, could I have had sex and not worried about anything!? Any help is appreciated!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
The antibiotic did not interact with your IUD!. The action of your device is mechanical and local!. If you took some NSAID, it could have an effect, but not an antibiotic!.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

mirena is a peice of plastic that is incerted in the uterus!. There is no hornmones release from it!. So, anti-biotics has no affect to the birth control device that you have!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Yep your safe to have sex, the anti-biotic won't cancel out the Mirena!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
