Question: First pap!!!!?
I am so affraid!! I have my first pap on the 11th, and I have no clue what they are going to do!! Please help me calm my nerves about this!!!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Hon!? There's no way to relax during this procedure so just forget about finding a way to do that!. The important thing to keep remembering is that you HAVE to have one in order to stay healthy!. There's no worse feeling than having to go to one of these!. I'm in my thirties and I still HATE going to them!. They are going to do some pretty icky things!. I suggest you google the pap procedure online!. I'm guessing they will give you a blow by blow of what takes place!.
Do yourself a favor---remember---we all have to have them!.!.!.and your smart to not miss or skip them!.

Dont be afraid honey!. Im 15 and i've been there and had one!. I will honestly say it is an uncomfortable experiance but i think thats to be expected!.
1st thing that will happen is a nurse my take your vital signs e!.g blood pressure!.
next you will be given a gown and ask to change into it behind a screen!.
You will be asked to lay on a couch with your legs spread apart and your feet in stirrops!. You will be asked to relax so that the procedure is done quicker and is less uncomfortable!.
They will take a speculum which looks like a duck beak, gently insert it into your vagina after lubricating it with warm water!. They will gently open it up wide enough so they can see your cervix and then take a cell sample!. They will gently remove the speculum and then thats the pap over!.
They may insert 1 or 2 gloved fingers into your vagina and press down gently on your abdomen to feel for your ovaries!.
They may also insert one finger into your rectum (anus) this is to help them feel your vital organs!.
A breast check may also be done, which is a painless quick examination feeling for any abnormalities in the breats!.
Take your mp3 player or have someone to talk to you while you have it done- it will take your mind of it!.
Take deep breaths so that you relax a bit it will make it more comfortable!.

I won't lie and say it's awesome, but it's a necessary awkwardness i guess!. The biggest thing is to relax, it makes every!. thing go a lot easier!. if you tense up it's harder for the doctor to use the speculum!. if you're a virgin, it may be a little more uncomfortable, so maybe mention it to the doctor so they can decide if they should use a smaller speculum!. in terms of what they actually do ( hopefully this isn't more information than u wanted), they spread open a vagina a little and take a swab of the inside which doesn't hurt!. good luck and relax!Www@Answer-Health@Com
i've had a few of them!. don't be afraid of it!. it's a little uncomfortable because of the situation, but it doesn't hurt or anything!. i was really nervous my first couple of times!. usually the one performing it will talk it through with you and try to make you feel comfortable!. it's something everyone has to do! so don't be afraid!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
It is not the best thing to happen but it needs to be done!. Easy way to just take your mp3 player and just go somewhere else in your mind tillit is done it may hurt a little but it has to be done!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
