Question: Is it normal practice to have an colonoscopy when having a haemorrhoid banding op!?
Answers:
Yes, I had this same procedure!. The colonoscopy is performed to basically make sure that there is nothing else that may be related to the symptoms that you are experiencing due to hemmorroids!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Sure, they would like to know how far up they are!. The colonoscopy gives you an opportunity to visualize what the surgeon needs to do!. And maybe something else higher up in the colon is causing the bleeding!. It's nice to formulate a game plan before he starts cutting!. Smart thing to do!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Not common practise as a lot of banding is done in outpatient clinics!. However it is not unheard of, every surgeon has his/her own method and procedure of doing things!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
