How long did it take for your body to go back to normal after having a baby?!

Question: How long did it take for your body to go back to normal after having a baby!?
On April 4th I had my daughter by c-section!. She was my second one, but after my first I went on the pill so my periods were very regular after having him!. This time I had my tubes tied and I am not sure I have had a period yet!. I bled for 4 weeks and then I had my gall bladder out and either the stress from that made me bleed worse or I had a very short period at the end of the post partum bleeding!. Its now been 5 weeks since that and I haven't had anymore bleeding!. Did any other non-breast feeding moms have really irregular periods after their babies were born!? And what are the chances of a tubal ligation not working at all!? My doctor said that he removed pieces of the tubes and I know they were cauterized as well but I am very paranoid about being pregnant again!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
It can take your body several months for your horomones to regulate after having a baby (Non-breastfeeding mothers usually start to menstruate in about six to twelve weeks)!. This is even more true since you have had a tubal and then another major surgery!. Your body has been through a lot!

Take a pregnancy test just to reassure yourself (you know you won't be able to rest until you know for sure)!. Give yourself another week or so to see if your period starts!. If it doesn't, give your doctor a call!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

well i had a a c-section 15 weeks ago and i use to wear size 0's now i where size 5-8 so im still not back to normal!.!.!.!.
you'll get there!.!.!.
and about being pregnant not to scare you but my mom had her tubes tied and has been pregnant 4 timesWww@Answer-Health@Com

I'd ask your OBGYN and have them check you over to make sure!.!.!. Good luck!Www@Answer-Health@Com

It'll never be the same!. Pregnancy ruins your breasts!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

First of all, remember that a c-section is still considered major abdominal surgery AND gall bladder removal!. For your body to fully recover from any major surgery it may take up to a year!. Couple that with nine months of pregnancy which may take up to a year for the body with a vaginal delivery!. Then you had some minor surgery, the tubal!. Your body is mending itself!. Give your body a year to start feeling "normal" again!.

Second, from all your body has endured over the past year, it's going to heal tissues first!. Our bodies have a remarkable way of pinpointing what is priority!. Our menstrual periods may seem like a priority but to your body it's something that it did without for a while and will do without for a long time in the future!. Meantime, it wants to be in it's normal state!. All tissues, muscles and nerves that have been cut, banged about and stretch back to their general state!. Perhaps your doctor didn't mention it because he/she took it for granted that you might understand the healing process your body is undergoing currently!.

Doc is absolutely correct!. The only chance of your having a normal pregnancy now is if you have reconstructive surgery and even THAT is iffy!. Relax!. Give your body another few months and if no periods, perhaps your doc will check for hormone imbalance which could be the culprit with the absent/irregular menstrual periods!.

Back in the old days when they only tied the tubes, women had to worry about that!. My baby brother was one who was conceived after our mother had her tubes "tied!." (They came undone!? Or he was just meant to be here!.) NOW, they cut and shorten them AND cauterise them (burn the ends)!. Occasionally, women will have ectopic pregnancies but there are definite signs and symptoms including excruciating pain!.

Also remember since you now have two young ones that your body is also expending a lot more energy than before!. You will be fine physically!. However, you are probably more stressed than you have been in your life and may want to work on some relaxation techniques that you can do at home after babies are asleep!. Mild exercises can help relax!. Herbal teas!. THE BIGGY: Getting off to yourself now and then so you can still be you and not 100% mommy, wife, caregiver, housekeeper, maid, cook!.!.!. Take some time for you too!.

****Schedule time for you and hubby too--dates!****

Sit down with your partner and talk with him about all that's going on (not in a nagging way) because you ARE partners in this and you cannot do all by yourself!. Please, please, please, remember to keep in touch with female friends and/or relatives for chit chat and girl talk when you have a few moments during the day (for ADULT CONTACT) Might help take your mind off "being a little off kelter" till your body gets back to some normalcy!.

(I say some because, personally, I mine never really got back to where it was!. After a while, I just decided I had to go with the flow if I was going to return to who I was emotionally: Happy and not a worrier!.)

Maybe it's just me, but I'm sensing that your "emotional state" has changed a bit too!. Get back to you!. Use whatever resources are available to you!. Books, friends, the internet, self-help/self-improvement things on cable access--Yahoo Answers ;-) was a good place to start!. If you get to feeling down, call a Women's Health Center and ask for some tips, help or maybe even a counseling session!. Nip things in the bud before they get rooted!. [Thinking back: Parents Magazine was my best friend for about five years! Check out the link below but I suggest if you find a favorite magazine, opt for the actual paper magazine so you'll have something physical to hold and read during "Mommy Breaks"]

Sounds like a lot with two kids but you can set aside 20 minutes or a half hour daily JUST FOR YOU so you can be the best you possible!.

I pray I haven't been too envasive or gone on and on too much!. Just trying to help a sistah out!.

Hugs and much love!.!.!.
