What can cause my cycle to become irregular?!

Question: What can cause my cycle to become irregular!?
I'm 18 years old, not sexually active!. I've had my period since I was 12 and I've ALWAYS been regular, even from the beginning!. Four months ago, my cycle started changing!. First I was two days early, then two days late, then one day late!. And I just started my period today, three days early!.

I was under some stress from college, but school ended a month ago and I'm still irregular!.

Will my cycle ever regulate itself again!? Should I go see my doctor about this!?

Thanks!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
There are many factors that can cause your menstrual cycle to become irregular!. One is stress!. Another is change in diet!. And another is The Pill!.

You don't mention above that you are on The Pill!. If so, this is normal at the beginning, or if there has been a disruption in taking it!.

If you are not on The Pill!. Now is a great time to start!. The Pill is extremely effective in regulating menstrual cycles!. I had the very same problem, and my OB/GYN put me on a low-dose progestin Pill and I was normal within three cycles!.

Call your doctor to make an appointment to discuss the many different types of birth control pills available and to pick the best one for you!.

Good luck and I hope that you're feeling better soon!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Most women actually have cycles that are as irregular or more irregular than the one you described!.

When children grow into adolescents, their bodies have a hard time switching from producing "child-only" hormones to "adult" hormoes, and it usually takes several years for the body to adjust fully!. This is why teenagers (both boys and girls) are so moody; their bodies aren't sure what to produce and when!.

Usually by the time you're 18 (and certainly by the time you're in your early 20's) your body shifts over to producing "adult-only" hormoes!. And unfortunately, there are some things that child and teenage bodies can do that adult bodies can't, such as maintaining a regular cycle month after month!.

Be sure to mention it to your doctor, however, at your next scheduled checkup!. They can put your mind at ease much better than we can here on Yahoo! Answers!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
