I have O- blood type and was rh-sensitized during a pregnancy. Can I can donate !

Question: I have O- blood type and was rh-sensitized during a pregnancy!. Can I can donate blood!?
My titer is quite high, about 128 (or was that 124!? I can't recall exactly)!. I would like to donate blood but I'm afraid it could endanger an RH negative woman!. Someone also suggested to me once that I might be able to donate my blood to help in research or for creating Rhogam shots, but I can't seem to find any information about that!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
PLEASE donate blood!! O- is the universal donor, and where I live, most hospitals have less than a 12 hour supply at any given time!.

Don't worry about the Rh sensitization!. All donated blood is tested, and when the products are transfused, they do what is called a cross match to make sure your antibodies won't interfere with the recipient!.

As far as making Rhogam, perhaps you could contact the manufacturer about how their process!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I don't really under stand your question but i am O- and i have donated blood before!. I also received the rhogam shot during pregnacy!. That is for since im rh negative my baby could of been either RH positive or negative and as precaution they give the shot!. Blood banks type your blood so it can be correctly given to other ppl!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Yes, you can donate blood, and yes, they could use your blood to make Rhogam!. They are usually quite happy about us Rh sensitized women giving blood due to the antibodies!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

If you are O negative, you won't endanger anyone!. But this is a good question for your donation site (usually Red Cross)!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
