i've had to have a physical every year for the past 4 to be able to play volleyball at my school and all my doctor did was things like check my reflexes, make sure i didnt have any back problems, and make sure my muscles were workin properly!.!.!.he asked me about my period, like if it was normal and stuff but he didnt look down thereWww@Answer-Health@Com
A physical is not the same thing as a women's health exam (otherwise known as a pelvic exam)!. If you were going to have a pelvic exam, your mother should take you to see a special doctor called a gynecologist, who specializes in women's reproductive health!.
At 13 there is really no reason that you need to have a pelvic exam if you!. Routine pap smears really aren't needed until you are 16-18 years old!.
With a regular physical, they just do basic assessments of your blood pressure, height, weight, look at your eyes and ears, listen to your lungs and heart, check your reflexes, feel your abdomen for any signs of tenderness, that's really about it!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Check reflexes, height, weight, etc!. All the normal stuff!. They have you pee in a cup to make sure that's normal as well!. The doctor will check down there, but really it should only last a couple seconds and it's only the outer part of your vagina, not anything else like a gynecological exam would be!. Just try not to think about it while they do that!. The nurse/doctor will also probably check your breasts to check for any abnormalities and, again, to make sure you're developing properly!. If you've already started your period, he/she will ask you how long you cycle is, how long you actually bleed for, if it's heavy or light, how many pads/tampons (maybe) you use in a typical day while you're on your period, how bad are your cramps, PMS, etc!. They'll also ask you about you overall health!. They might update you on some vaccinations for your age, such as Hepatits and/or tetanus!. You may have to have a TB (tuberculosis) test, and if you do I'm sorry because in my opinion, not to scare you or anything, those hurt like, sorry for the profanity, hell!. If you're actually on your period during the examination you should reschedule because it will be harder for them to get accurate test results and stuff!. Hope all this helped!

I just did that physical in November of '07!. I guess it wasn't too bad, but they do check everything!. She had to look down "there" but it's not like the FULL THING!. When your 13 they don't get too into the whole exam thing!. You'll have to pee in a cup (sounds gross but once it's done, it's done) just so they can make sure that's all good too!. The entire thing really isn't something to begin to freak out about, you'll be okay!

It does depend on why you are having a physical!. Are you ill!? Is it routine!? Is it with a doctor or nurse!?
If you are having a smear test, then yes they will need to check your vagina!. They will need to insert a speculum to get a scraping of inner cells!.
Smear tests are very routine!. They are slightly uncomfortable but do not hurt!. Once you have started sexual intercourse, you will need to have regular smear tests every few years!.
If you are uncomfortable with your doctor doing the test, you can ask for a nurse or female GP to do it!.
Don't feel embarrassed!. This is routine to them!. You will also have a sheet on you to help reduce the embarrassment!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It won't include a pap smear or anything like that!. If there is a check "down there", it will be quick (mine were literally "seconds"), just to make sure things look normal!.

The first thing they will do is make you change into a gown!. You will most likely be able to keep your under wear and bra on!. Then the doctor will come in and listen to you breath, heart beat, check your mouth, ears, eyes and nose!. Then he/she will ask you to lie down and take off the gown!. The first thing they will do is a breast exam!. They will ask you to take of your bra then they will do the exam!. They use their fingers and feel your breast looking for lumps!. After that they will let you put your bra back on!. The they will do your stomach!. Then they do the genital exam!. They will pull down your underwear and make you spread your legs apart!. The part only takes a minute or two so don't worry!. The doctors are usually pretty quick about it!. As soon as they are done they will pull your underwear back up!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
A general physical exam requires looking at at everything!. For a gal if the Doc does not look down there and she has a problem down there later the Doc will be liable!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
