my 12 year old step daughter, says she wants to use tampons, I think its because a couple of her friends are using them but they are a year older than her, anyway I think she is still too young, I was 16 before I tried one, and it was hard to get it in the right way!.!.!.!. also I noticed that as soon as her friend leaves she goes and puts on a pad,,, so do you think she is only doing this in front of them to look " Cooler"!? 13 or 14!.!. but you should know that tampons aren't healthy for you!. They leave fiber behind and can cause you to get infections!. My obgyn recommends using tampons only on my heaviest days and then pads for the remainder!. And about her trying to look cooler, sometimes girls just want to fit in and seem normale like the other girls!. it took me a few trys to figure out how to put them in the right way at first!.
i would just make sure that she knows the right way to put them in, or else she could permentally hurt herself!.
ALSO, tell her that using tampons is not a cool thing to do!. and fi used wrong, could cause permant damage!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

personally i think pads are not that comfortable and not always safe and reassuring i dont think it is that big of a deal if shes got her period shes already got some growing up shes doing why not give her a chance to make her own decision shes turning into a lady give her a little roomWww@Answer-Health@Com

i was 11 but did it behind my moms back!. i have worn them ever since i was caught when i was 15!. I think if your step daughter thinks she is ready then let her!. you may need to explain the risk for tss and other infections!. By the way i am 16!. Wasn't supose to be allowed till i was 17Www@Answer-Health@Com
I was 12 when I started my period!. I HATED the feel of pads!. I felt as if I was wearing a diaper!. I also hated the feel of tampons!.But when you are 12 years old, I guess you will do anything to fit in!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I would definatly explain the risks, But i got my peirod at a very young age (10) and started using tampons when i was about 12 (maybe a little earlier)!. I never spoke to mum about it, Just found them in my sisters room and figured it out myself, It took me a good few months b4 i knew what i was doing!. It was much easier to cope with having my period so young, tampons were way easier to hide etc!. Also i was a frequent swimmer and horse rider!. I believe me using tampons made puberty a little bit less stressful! lol!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
I was 14!. I didn't do it to look cool or anything it was a matter of comfort actually!. I was sick of the irritation and the diaper like feeling of the pads!. It's good that's she's talking to you about it, that means you will be able to explain the proper use of tampons and risks associated with them!. Since summer is coming up she'll probably be wanting to go swimming or to the beach and so she will probably wanting a tampon even more!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
