Irregular periods - should I be worried?!

Question: Irregular periods - should I be worried!?
Iv heard that stopping the pill can cause irregular periods but I stopped my pill about half a year ago now and was sure they should have returned to normal by now!? I have a normal period, then miss one, have a normal one then miss one!.
Im extremely concerned as I my periods have been irregular since I tested positive for chlamydia!. I only had the chlamydia for about 2 months because I had early symptoms such as bad abdominal pains, and I stopped my birth control pills around this time!.
Since then my periods have been all over the place and Im worried about this!. I have always had a regular, 28 day cycle!.
P!.s I am trying to conceive but have had no luck!. I have just missed another period but a pregnancy test was negative!.

Very confused and upset :-(Www@Answer-Health@Com

Depending how long you were on the pill, it can take ages to sort out, the hormones from it are probably still leaving your body leaving ur periods irreular and maybe stopping u from getting pregnant, ur cycle is prob not back to normal your body clock is pullin it one way and the pill another dont worry it takes time,Itd help if u knew when u were ovulatin to get preg!.Go to your chemist and ask the pharmisist for a test to see when ur ovulating and also ask how long it will take for ur cycle to calm down, thts what i did when my pill messed mine up!.hel reassure u theres nothing to worry about or tell u when u need to see ur doc and its free!.Have u tht about takin a fertility tests, also dont worry people usually cant have a baby until a yera after the pill cus there cycle hasn settled!!Awh all the stuff us girls have to go through!!!!Bring on a man pill!!Www@Answer-Health@Com

hi there
I think you should go to your doctor to get checked out!.
Irregular periods could be a number of things including stress or hormone related problems!. When did you find out you had chlamydia!.!.!. was it before coming off the pill or after!? Did you have any treatment for it!? Sometimes it can take up to a year for periods to return to normal but i would definitely get it checked out!. If your doc cant find a problem get him to refer you to a gynecologist to check out your hormones and your ovaries!.This involves blood tests and ultrasounds, this way they will be able to tell you why you are not conceiving and hopefully put it right!. It may just be a case of putting you on hormone tablets for a while to regulate your periods and then once that is sorted you will probably be able to conceive!.
Don't give up and try not to worry!.!. stress can cause alot of upset to your cycle too but please get it checked out!. best of luck with trying to conceive !.
It WILL happen for you :)Www@Answer-Health@Com
