Should I ask my doctor about sleeping pills for my insomnia?!

Question: Should I ask my doctor about sleeping pills for my insomnia!?
I have had issues with insomnia since I was 9!. Since I had my daughter it's gotten worse!. That was almost 4 months ago!. If I'm stressed out I can't sleep!. It's not that I can't I guess, it's like my mind and body doesn't WANT to, if that makes sense, and so I can't sleep at all!. For the past couple of months I haven't been able to shut my mind down enough to get to sleep before 3am, and the past 4 days I haven't been able to sleep at all until after 5am!. It leaves me utterly exausted during the day, because I still have to get up at 8 or 9 oclock with my children!.
I can't continue like this!. I'm also breast feeding my daughter, so is there anything I can take!?!? I just don't know what to do!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Sleeping pills are ok, however I would suggest you try some natural remedies first:

1!. No TV in your bedroom!. The bedroom is for sleeping and sex only!.

2!. Work out (bpm 160 running) for 30 mins or (bpm 120 walking) for 60 mins each day!.!. DO NOT DO THIS within 2 hours of going to sleep!.

3!. Go to bed each night at the same time and wake up at the same time!. Eventually, when your sleep cycle gets back in tune -with or without meds- it will really help keep it there!.

4!. Avoid naps, as they ruin your sleep cycle!.

5!. No sugar or caffinated drinks (ie the "chocolate drinks") for 3 hours before bed!. Water, water, water only!.

6!. Try turning off the TV an hour before going to bed!. Read for an hour then take a shower or bath before jumping into the sack!. As your body temperature lowers you will become more tired/relaxed!.

7!. Make sure your not sleeping too warm; otherwise it will keep you awake!. Take off some of the blankets and sleep in your underwear to keep you cooler!. (that body temperature thing again)

8!. Does the hubby snore!? If so, think about sleeping in different bedrooms!. Plenty of households have parents that sleep in different rooms, it's not a slight to your relationship, just getting you some quality zzzzzzs!.

9!. No smoking before bed!. Make a rule that cigaretts are out from 2 hours before bed until you wake up!.

10!. When you close the bedroom door, leave everything out side, just that: OUTSIDE!. There is nothing you can do to make it better, except getting a decent amount of sleep!.

11!. Pray!. Not sure if your religious, but I pray the Lord's Prayer continuously until I go to sleep!.!.!.focusing on the words and the meanings behind the words!.

12!. Lavender!. Get some Lavender products at Bath and Body or even the bath section at wal mart!. Spray your sheets, pillow, and air around your bed!. Put lavendar lotion on!. Soap up with lavender!.!.!.well you get it!.

13!. Tonight take a look at your room!. Is it too bright!? Got a clock with digital lights blaring in your face!? MAKE IT DARK!. Take that clock and put it somewhere where you can't see it!. Get some darker curtains!. Hell, cover the windows with aluminum foil if need be!. Just make the room dark as you can get it!.!.!.!.if there are "night lights" in your hallway for the little ones, tell them that the night lights are "broke" or put one in the bathroom and shut the door so it doesn't bother the darkness in your room!.

Breast feeding will have to stop if you get on meds!. Look, I don't care who says what, your health and quality of sleep is paramount to being a good mommy!. Tell anyone who says otherwise to hit the road and take their crummy advice with them!. I know, I dealt with the Breast Feeding Nazis when I was going through about the same thing you are - they tried to tell me that I was "not doing the best thing for my child" by stopping breast feeding so I could take sleeping meds!.

My son is now 9 years old, 5 feet tall 80 lbs and an A - B student!.!.!.it didn't hurt him one bit!.

Good luck and God bless you!. If you have any questions, feel free to email me, k!?Www@Answer-Health@Com
