Question: Girls only: pap test!?
My doctor told me that this year I will have to get my first pap test, and I am nervous about it!. Just wondering what it is like and what I can do to relax (I'm afraid I'm going to panic - I'm so embarassed and scared about it for some reason)!. Is it painful!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

It's not painful, but I'm not gonna lie, it's a bit uncomfortable!.!.!.!.!.!.especially since you've never experienced one!.
The nurse will come in and ask you some questions!. Give her honest answers!. Tell the nurse that you are really nervous, that this is your first pap!. The nurse will give you a gown to put on and you'll undress in private and sit on the table and wait for the doctor!. I always wear a button up shirt and some doctors will let you leave your shirt on and just remove your bra and then you'll be given a sheet to cover your lower half!.
The doctor and the nurse will come back in!. You'll lie down and he will exam your breasts to feel for any lumps!. Then, he'll move on to the rest of the exam!. The doctor will insert his fingers into your vagina to feel for anything suspicious!. Then you'll have to put your feet into the stirrups and he will insert a speculum and take a Q-tip looking thing and brush your cervix to get a sampling of the cells!. It will go really quickly!. Try to relax!. If you are tense, it will be more uncomfortable!. Pick a place on the ceiling and concentrate on it!. A lot of the time, the doctor or nurse will try to have a conversation with you to distract you!. The whole procedue will take less than 5 minutes!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It's really not painful at all !. They put your legs in stirrups and insert this 'duckbill' contraption thing to open you up !. To me that is the most uncomfortle part !. Then they take a little brush and brush the cervix with it !. That's it ! Let the doctor know it's your first one and hopefully he/she will be a little more gentle !. Like the other poster said , ob/gyn's have seen 1000's of vaginas !. Trust me when I say yours is not special !.!.!.lol !. The best advice I can give you is to RELAX !. If you tense up it will be more uncomfortable !. It's very quick and will be over before you know it !.
It sucks being a girl !. When you're older and have babies ( if you choose ) you have to give up all sense of modesty !. It was then that I realized that having my legs up in stirrups isn't such a big deal !.

aw, honey!.!. dont be scared!. remember the doctor has seen tons of vagina's!. it will be very professional and not a big deal at all!. it will feel weird, but only for a minute!. trust me, it is not a huge deal! it will be over before you know it!Www@Answer-Health@Com
I thought I was going to flip out (especially since I'm a victim of sexually-natured crime) but my doctor was very gentle and nonchalant about it!. It didn't hurt, but it did feel very bizarre!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

the hardest thing about it is letting a stranger eyeball and touch your poonannie!. Its not painful, just a little uncomfortable!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
