They are not fun, but they aren't the worst thing in the world either!.

Basically they leave you alone in the room and let you undress and put on a medical gown!. You sit and wait for the doctor to come in!. Just tell the doctor it is your first time and ask them to explain it slowly and I'm sure they will!.
First thing my doctor usually do is review medical history, update my chart, and then go to a breast exam!. They ask you to take off the top of your robe, and have you lay back and feel your breasts!. My doctor takes two or three fingers and pushes around in a circle all around to check for lumps/bumps!. She does this with each breast!.
Then, they have you lay down completly with your but on the edge of the table, and put your feet up in stirrups, which are just these footrests that pull up out of the table!.
They then put a glove on and put lubricant on their hand, and put their fingers inside of you while pushing down on your abdomen, and ask if it is painful when they push on certain spots!. I'm not actually sure what this checks!.!.!.
Then, they will take this little contraption, I believe its called a speculum!.!.!.!? They take it and put lubricant on it, and insert it into you, and open it up!. It just kind of holds you open so the doctor can look up in there and they take a giant cotton swab and put it in and swab your cervix!. This is the "pap smear" part of it!.

Those are all the highlights that I can think of!. Just stay calm and relax! It isn't fun but again I'd rather do all that than get a shot, it just depends on the person!. Don't be self conscious!. The doctor sees hundreds of girls each week probably, and has seen thousands!. They know that boobs come in all shapes and sizes, and so does everything else!.
And if you are really nervous, having a female doctor helps!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I have three children, so I have had several appointments!. When I first went when I was 18 I was very self conscious!. I made sure my appointment was w/ a female doctor!.
First she talked to me!. then had me undress and did an exam!. During the exam they will do a pap smear, it may pinch a little, then the doctor will place a finger inside you and her hand on your stomach to feel the location of your uterus!.
she will also do a breast exam!. Do not be self conscious!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

docters are usually good about keeping it private if they know you r nervous!.!.!.!. they will make you put on this paper gown, and give you a blanket to cover up with!.!. sit on this table uncover one boob at a time while they feel for bumps!.!. then there gonna make you slide your but to the edge of the table and put you feet in stirups and there gonna put this plastic thing in you(sounds way worse then it is) and take a small sample so they can test for hpv virus ( google that one if you dont know what it is) and then thats it! you dont have to see what there doing when they do it and it goes by really fast!.!.!. no worries! get used to it youll have to get them every year for a long time!.!.!. if you feel uncomfortable try to get a female docter if that wil make you feel better!.!. but guys are a little more gentle down there if your not too shy to have a guy docter!.!. nothing to be scared about though, everyone gets them!.!.!. and there is always suppost to be a nurse in the room when the docter is examining you!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
