Question: Nuclear test for gall bladder, can anyone give me information on this test and is it accurate!?
I have already had two ultra sounds and two cat scans in the past three years and they haven't found anything as of yet!. My liver, pancreas, kidneys are good!. But, I have gall bladder attacks and I could handle it every once in a while, but when the pain didn't stop - I went back to the Doc and said, "something is not right with me and we have to find out what it is!. She ordered a nuclear test to see if there is any obstructions anywhere, I just wan't the pain to stop!. Any advice!?Www@Answer-Health@Com
Answers:
The word "nuclear" indcates that dye made from iodide will be put into your gall bladder to observe it for gall stones, infection or blocked bile ducts!. Your gall bladder recieves bile which travels from liver and from the gall to the small intestine!. It (bile) is necessary to digest fat!. Gall stones are either composed of bile, calcium or fat!.
During your scan, a radioactive tracer is injected into a vein in the arm!. When the liver removes the tracer from blood it adds it to bile!. A special gamma camera takes pictures of the tracer as it moves thru your system!. The whole process takes 1 to 2 hours!.
Good luck! Hope this answers your question
