well i'm 12 and my mom got her period at 13 so theres a good chance that i'll be getting my period soon!. whats it like!? was it scary when you had yours!? what creeps me out is when you get your period you are able to have a baby once you proform sexual intercourse EWWWWW!!!!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Whilst starting your period can run in families, it is common for a daughter to start her period later or earlier than her mum, so don't expect it too much!
Periods do hurt!. Basically, you get stomach cramps, which feel like a stomach ache, except the pain is a little different!. However, this is easily helped by taking a couple of aspirin!.
Your periods will be heavier at first, however, they reduce in duration as you get older!. Mine first lasted 7 days, and were heavy, now they only last 4 days, and are fairly light!.
You will have to sample feminine hygiene products!. You can either use tampons or sanitary towels, however, i advise you to start with sanitary towels!.
If you want to try tampons one time, make sure you get low absorbency ones, as these are smaller and are designed for women who have not been on their period long!.
It's not as bad as everyone says, and you will soon get used to the idea of it!.
Don't worry about the idea of pregnancy, as you will control your fertility adequately when you start having sex with appropriate birth control :)Www@Answer-Health@Com

I got my first period when I was 9 and I'm going to be 20 in a month !. It was a little scary at first and I was nervous about how to "take care of it" while I was at school, but after a few periods you get used to it!. Promise!. Having a baby is a natural part of life but there are ways to have safe sex and prevent pregnancy but you are only 12 and don't need to worry about that until you decide to have sex!. you have a bigger chance of getting yours later like when you're 14!.
when you start puberty (pubic hair, armpit hair,discharge ) 1-3 years later you will get it!. and thats after your breasts have grown!.

its not scary! i am about ur age (i am 13) and i got mine at 12 there is nothing scary except for the look of it, when i got it i couldn't feel anything "escape my body" it was just there and ur health teach is weird! anywayz just ask ur mom to buy u some pads so u can be ready and urs can start at any time like my moms started when she was 14 in 8th grade and mine started when i was 12 in 7th gradeWww@Answer-Health@Com

Umm, I got my period when I was ten and what happened was that during the day I was getting pain in my lower stomach and thought it was a normal stomach ache!. I went to the bathroom to do number one when I clean myself and see blood on the toilet paper!. Then I looked at my underwear and see blood on it too, then it hit me, holy crap I got my period!. I screamed for my mom to come and when she did I told her and she got teary eyed and was all aww, my little girl!. Then she told me how to wear it and stuff!. The next day she got me roses, it was nice!. When you first get it, its pretty irregular, you might get it the first week one month then the third the next or you might not get it next month!. That never happened to me though, it normally happens to me around the tenth and lasts four days!. Its pretty heavy, and you don't feel it going down ,its not like pee, DON'T WORRY!. The first days are the roughest, but then not much comes down!. Umm!.!.when you feel your pad is very wet, then you change it!. You really get used to the whole thing!. The only thing that in my case is a pain is cramps!. Its normally hereditary whether you get them or not!. Unfortunately, I do and they're bad!. But its nothing a pill or two of Motrin cant fix!. Regarding the whole sex thing, hey, its comes with the whole being a woman!. Its a miracle of life and as you get older, you wont be freaked or creeped out!. Hope I help! :)Www@Answer-Health@Com
