Who do men become gynecologists?!
Question: Who do men become gynecologists!?
Before I go on with this question, I just wanted to clarify that I am not trying to be sexist!. I'm just puzzled about something and I wanted to find a legitimate answer to my question!. Please don't get offended by this question!
I find it interesting that there are so many men in the field of gynecology and I was wondering whether there was a reason for this or whether it's just a coincidence!. I also find it surprising because I thought that women wouldn't be comfortable having someone of a different gender check them for problems!. There are also a lot of young girls out there with health issues and I thought that it would be much more comfortable for them to see a women gyno specialist!.
Once again, this is just a QUESTION so please don't get upset by it!. Why do men become gynos!?

From my research, it's the opposite - most women do not want another woman examining them!.
Men choose OB/GYN as a speciality because 1) it deals with new life - the best part of humanity, and 2) it's a big demand specialty!. There is always a shortage of OB's!.
Women doctors, particularly those who also want to raise a family, have a difficult time being OB's because of the hours involved!. An OB is on call 24/7!. One of the drawbacks of the speciality!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Most Gynecologists are also Obstetricians (OB/GYN), as to why!? Who knows!. Personal interest, open field with lots of opportunity, fate, plenty of reasons!. OB/GYNs also help with childbirth, etc!. and lots of men are interested in that field!.

My gynecologist is a man and I have never had a problem with it!.!.!.!.even when I first started going to see him when I was around 18 or 19 years old!. I think, for men, they really love children and love the aspect of women being pregnant and helping deliver the baby!. I don't think it has anything to do with them just doing it to see lots of women naked!. I mean, imagine the MANY different kinds of women they see - it isn't like they see super models every patient!Www@Answer-Health@Com

I mean, it's the same way when a female becomes a testicular specialist, some men may be uncomfortable by it!. There are many reasons , some that you probably have assumed!.
Most important is the what the person does not want to do !. Surgery , podiatry , E!.R!. etc
Then decide what field is needed in the area they serve!.
OBGYN is a safe field considering that people conceive , regularly , and check ups insure a steady income!.
So , although I'm sure there are pervs in every field , I wouldn't worry!.

Maybe because it is an easier area than say, neuro-surgery and such, and so if these guys want to advance their career, they see it as an easier option!.

Honestly, when a person goes to medical school to become a doctor, they don't know what field they will end up specializing in!. They all go through basic courses of study and at the end they apply for internships in certain fields and they may aplly to 6 or 7 different ones and only get accepted in to 1 or 2!. So for the most part they "fall" into gynecology!. It's nearly impossible for a person to set out from the start wanting to be a gynecologist and achieve it!. If you ask you'd find well over 90% of ob/gyn's didn't know they were going into that field when they entered medical school!. A lot of women are ok with male gynecologistsWww@Answer-Health@Com
