Question: What are some of the side effects of birth control pills!? From people who actually take them!?
I'm 14 and I'm taking birth control to shorten my ten day period!. Or I will be, anyway!. So I was wondering what some of the side effects have been for you!. I've read the ones on the box and everything, but I'd like some personal experience!.

The good news is birth control pills help regulate your periods they shorten them and you always know when to expect them!. There's no guessing involved! Some types of birth control pills even help to prevent acne!.
The bad news is you tend to gain a little weight with birth control pills, nothing extreme just 5 pounds or so!. They also increase your risk of developing blood clots but since you are so young you probably don't need to worry about that!. Blood clots usually effect women taking birth control over 35 years old that smoke!.

I am on Yaz and I have very few bad side effects from the medicine!. I have not gained weight because of being on the pill and my mood swings are non-existent!. Before starting the pill, I was already susceptible to yeast infections so now that I am on it, like with any birth control, it has greatly increased the number of infections!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
My experience has been a good one on birth control!. I gained a bit of weight, but it all went to my tiny boobs, so that was okay!.
Other than that everything has been good!. It's helped my migraines and shortened my period a lot, as well as reducing cramps!.

I have been taken birth control pills for over 5 years now!. The only real side effects that i have had to endure are bad cramps for a couple days before my period started, oh and the first day is always really heavy!. The bonus was that my period went from 7-10 days all the way to 3-4 days!. Hope that helps!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
well, i've noticed a little bit of weight gain, but not much at all!. and for the first month, i got sick every morning from it!. but now, i just feel normal and i'm not noticing many affects!. other than when i do have a period its very light and doesnt last long!. and my pms isnt very bad!. i skip my last 7 pills usually now!. this way i don't even have a period other than some spotting here and there!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
For the first few months of the pill, I had spotting!. My sex drive took a dive, then my breasts got bigger (which was funny to everyone else, since they're big without the help)!. If you have any side effects that make life difficult for you, get switched to a different one!.!.!. it worked for me!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It very much so depends on the brand!. For example!. I've been on yasmin and alesse!. Alesse turned me crazy and psyco, and Yasmin started giving me cramps!. But I had no cramps on Alesse, as Yasmin didn't affect my moodyness too much!. It varies!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
