Okay, first of all; make SURE you are using a plastic applicator!. CARDBOARD APPLICATORS ARE A BIG NO-NO!. they are soo hard to get in compared to the easy glide plastic ones!. I recommend the Playtex Gentle Glide or Playtex Sport!. THey're both extremely easy to get in, they slide in without any discomfort!. Make sure you are pointing the tampon towards your lower back!. Sometimes i can't get mine in on certain months, you just have to push lightly and sort of move it around slightly until you find the right position, then apply a little bit of force to get it in!. If it hurts, you are either trying to push it into the wrong direction and you need to move it more to the left or right or something, OR, you are using too big of a tampon!. Start with a slim, then go to a regular, etc!. if you leak through a regular, try a super, (if you leak through a super, super plus you'll need!.) Make sure you are RELAXED when you put it in!. If yours muscles are contracted then it will leave very little room for the tampon to slide in!. Also, only try and put the tampon in when you have your period, because the blood is what makes it slide in!. Otherwise your uterus is dry and it will have a hard time getting in!. Try sitting on the toilet in a peeing position when you are putting it in, and dont tighten your butt muscles while you do it!. If all else fails, wash your hands thoroughly and use your finger to see what way the vaginal canal goes so you can point your tampon that way!. (This is not masterbating, dont worry!.)
Good luck!

Everyone's given you good answers!.!.!. but no one's asked you the "just in case" question:

Can you slip your index finger into your vagina without discomfort!?

If you can't, then you might be one of those unlucky women with an unusually tough or tight hymen!.

If this is your situation, hymens can usually be gently stretched (sometimes over the course of a week or more) to accomodate almost anything narrower than 3/4 of an inch!.!.!. all without breaking or tearing it if that's important to you!.

Try inserting your baby finger, and using it to pull your hymen from side to side and front to back!.!.!. a couple of times a day!. Sometimes this is a bit uncomfortable, but anything that actually hurts isn't gentle enough!.

Keep doing this for a few days, and it ought to work out fine!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

cardboard might be really environmental efficient, but they are much harder to put in because of the texture, try using a plastic applicator!.
oh and there's a possibility that you bought the wrong size, try slim fitting tampons!
:) good luck
ps!. if your going to use Tampax, use Tampax Pearl (plastic applicator)'Www@Answer-Health@Com

I rember when I first attempted to put in tampons, I wasted an intire box trying this!. I wouldn't you cardboard tampons at first!. I don't like cardboard tampons, but sometimes I have to use them and when you've got practice cardboard is easier to use!. I recomend tampax pearl!. And whatever your flow is you get that size!. Like junior, regular, super, etc!. Do not point upwards!. Point down!. Read the instructions, that'll help!. Also when I started inserting tampons I would open my legs really wide!. aha!. hope this helps!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I don't want to repeat advice you've already gotten--so I'm going to give you the only other thing I can think of!. When you are trying to put your tampon in, relax and then push your pelvic muscles down like you are trying to go poop!. It sounds silly, but (at least for me) it sort of opens up/widens your vagina a little bit making it easier for the tampon to slide in!.

Good luck--you'll get it, I promise!Www@Answer-Health@Com

see if you have some olive oil or vegetable oil in the kitchen, and put a little bit on the tip of the applicator!. That will help a lot!. Don't use vaseline!. If your mom has some KY, that would be best, but vegetable oil will be fine!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

okay,
first off,
relax, it will go in alot smoother and easier!.
try laying on your back on your bed or something, that also helps to get it in!.
i hope that helped!!!!!!!!!Www@Answer-Health@Com

i had the same problem!
i wasnt putting it in far enough
try to put it in as far as it can go, but make sure its comfortable
try to relax also
good luck!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Cardboard tampons are probably just about the hardest kind to put in!. Try playtex gentle glide, they are very easy to use!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
