a BBT thermometer is a basal body temperature thermometer!. it measures ur temperature every day, ideally in the mornings, before ur activities of the day has raised ur temperature!.
and no it cannot determine when you cannot get pregnant!.
its like this, the menstrual cycle has a day in it, about 14days after ur the first day of ur last menstruation, that is called ur Ovulation!. it is the day of the month u are most likely to get pregnant!. And this event is associated with an increase in body temperature!.
thus, the use of a basal body temperature thermometer is only helpful if u have been doing it, that is taking ur temperature everyday, for quite some time, such that even the smallest increase in temperature, u can notice because u pretty much have an idea what ur normal is!. with this increase in temperature, that means that u CAN get pregnant!. this increase in temperature usually last several days, abt 3 to 5!. so its not safe to have unprotected sex during these days!. and to be safe, its also not safe to have unprotected sex three days even after ur temperature have gone back down to ur normal!.
so really, the use of the BBT is a far too tedious manner of just determining days when u have ur safe days or not!. try other methods, such as the calendar method--- it just entails some counting!.!.!. or birth control pills, they're more reliableWww@Answer-Health@Com

A basal thermometer is an ultra sensitive thermometer that tracks your body's minutest temperature shift!. Body temps change throughout your cycle and charting these daily can show when you've ovulated!. Although most women use them while trying to get pregnant, they can also be used to avoid pregnancy!.
