Question: What is OBGYN!?!?!?

If OB is in the abbreviation it means obstetrics which means the dr!. delivers babies!. GYN means gynecology which means the dr!. is trained to treating and helping out with women issues with the reproductive organs!.
Not all GYN dr's specialize in obstetrics but the majority of them do!.
A dr!. patient relationship is supposed to confidential!. If a parent does go along with you to an appointment, most likely you will sit in the dr's office (where his desk is) to go over your medical history and family history!. After he goes over your health history it will then be time to go into an exam room!. At that time you can tell your mom or dad that they can catch up on some reading or that you prefer they not be in the exam room with you!. You can then tell the dr!. your concerns and if you don't want your parents finding out (as long as it's not bad like tuberculosis or really dangerous sexually transmitted disease) then you should be able to talk with him and he can then treat you better knowing your history!. I don't think any dr!. can know everything you have done!. I've never heard of a memory test at an OBGYN's office!. Maybe during hypnosis with a specialist in that area but certainly not an OBGYN dr!. I mean he may not be able to tell why your hymen is broke if it is because sometimes using tampons or being in rough sports can cause it to break!. Also he cannot tell your parents you've had sex because it's supposed to be confidential!. Now if pregnancy is an issue and there is a law in your area that says the parents have to be notified if you want to make certain choices than that isn't something that can easily be hidden or not told by you!. If you have an irregular period issue and you want to talk about the pill after you are in the exam room to help regulate your period and help prevent pregnancy you can always tell your mom that it's to help with the irregularity since she will probably find out if you take any meds!. An OBGYN is a doctor that has specialized in Obstetrics and Gynecology!. They are for "women" type issues!.
