Lots of women will experience spotting or breakthrough bleeding if they are late with their pills; some women will even experience spotting if they're only an hour late (like you mention you've been)!.

Did you wait at least 19 days after the sex in question to take your home pregnancy test!? It usually will take at least that long to get an accurate reading from the test!. Anything earlier than that, and your body will not have had enough of a chance to secrete enough HCG into your urine for the test to detect it!.

The original pill may have been too low dose for you, and you may be spotting on this pill because of the erratic timing on your pill-taking, especially after missing a day and needing to double up!.

If taken as directed, birth control pills are designed to be a women's sole form of birth control!. Is there a way you can help remind yourself to take your pill on time!? I've set up a 3 alarm system (my cell phone, my husband's cell phone, and a living room alarm clock) to make sure I take my pill at the same time each day (We had trouble with being on the phones when the alarms were meant to go off, thus not warning us); maybe you could come up with some sort of alarm system as well!.

Edit to Add: If your doctor directed you to double up after a missed pill, you should!. Always follow the doctor's instructions when taking a medication!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

The symptoms are probably from not taking your pills properly, it messes with your hormones when you skip then double up!. You could be pregnant because the pills loose effectiveness if they are not taken properly!. Don't have unprotected sex if you accidently skip a dose, and don't double them up!. It doesn't help!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
